  • Giants' Jakson Reetz: Signs MiLB pact

San Francisco signed Reetz to a minor-league contract Wednesday. Reetz opted out of his minor-league contract with the Royals after hitting .274/.349/.526 with four homers in 106 plate appearances with Triple-A Omaha. He provides the Giants with some minor-league depth at the backstop position. He would need to be added to the 40-man roster in order to join the major-league roster.

  • Royals' Jakson Reetz: Reassigned to minors camp

Reetz was reassigned to minor-league camp by Kansas City on Tuesday. The 27-year-old catcher slashed .227/.320/.455 this spring over 25 plate appearances and will likely begin the season in Triple-A, where he posted a .771 OPS in 2022.

  • Royals' Jakson Reetz: Returns to Royals

Reetz signed with the Royals as a non-roster invitee Tuesday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports. Reetz ended last season with the Royals' organization, signing a minor-league deal with the team after being cut loose by the Brewers in late August. He'll begin the 2023 season in a similar role. Reetz appeared in two major-league games for the Nationals in 2021 but spent 2022 splitting time between Double-A and Triple-A.

  • Royals' Jakson Reetz: Finds work in Royals organization

Reetz signed a minor-league contract with the Royals on Aug. 24 and went 5-for-6 with a home run, a double, two RBI and two runs while playing in both ends of a doubleheader Sunday in his debut for Triple-A Omaha. Reetz quickly struck a deal with the Royals after he elected free agency when the Brewers cast him off their 40-man roster and outrighted him to Triple-A earlier this month. The 26-year-old will add catching depth with his new organization, but he's unlikely to get a promotion to the big leagues in September with Sebastian Rivero already on hand as a third option behind the plate after Salvador Perez and MJ Melendez.

  • Brewers' Jakson Reetz: Remains in Milwaukee organization

The Brewers outrighted Reetz to Triple-A Nashville on Saturday. Reetz was removed from the Brewers' 40-man roster last week when the team reinstated J.C. Mejia from his 80-game suspension. The 26-year-old Reetz submitted a 1.002 OPS in 64 games at Double-A Biloxi earlier this season but has struggled at Nashville, slashing .212/.254/.424 over 71 plate appearances with the Brewers' top affiliate.

  • Brewers' Jakson Reetz: Scrubbed from 40-man roster

Reetz was designated for assignment by the Brewers on Thursday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Reetz was added to the Brewers' 40-man roster in early August, but he'll be designated for assignment after J.C. Mejia was reinstated from his suspension Thursday. It seems likely that Reetz will remain at Triple-A Nashville if he goes unclaimed on waivers.

  • Brewers' Jakson Reetz: Added to 40-man roster

The Brewers selected Reetz's contract from Triple-A Nashville on Thursday and optioned him to the affiliate. The transaction makes Reetz the fifth catcher on the Brewers' 40-man roster after Milwaukee lost some organizational depth when Pedro Severino was designated for assignment. Reetz received a promotion from Double-A Biloxi shortly before the All-Star break and has slashed .229/.283/.479 in 13 games since joining Nashville.

  • Brewers' Jakson Reetz: Lands with Brewers

Reetz signed a minor-league contract with the Brewers on Thursday. Reetz made his major-league debut with the Nationals last year but spent most of the year in the minors. Across 77 appearances between the Double-A and Triple-A levels, he hit .189 with six homers, 35 runs and 25 RBI. He'll have the chance to compete at major-league spring training in 2022.

  • Nationals' Jakson Reetz: Designated for assignment

Reetz was designated for assignment by the Nationals on Thursday, Maria Torres of The Athletic reports. Reetz was demoted from Triple-A Rochester to Double-A Harrisburg in early August, and he'll now be removed from the 40-man roster to help make room for right-hander Jhon Romero, whose contract was selected Thursday. The 25-year-old will likely remain in the organization if he goes unclaimed on waivers. Across 29 games following his demotion to Harrisburgh, Reetz hit .139 with two homers, nine runs, nine RBI and a stolen base.

  • Nationals' Jakson Reetz: Demoted to Double-A

Reetz was demoted from Triple-A Rochester to Double-A Harrisburg on Tuesday. Reetz spent just under a week in the majors in mid-July, going 1-for-2 with a double in two appearances off the bench. The reason for his demotion to Double-A isn't entirely clear, but it could be due the fact that he struck out in more than a quarter of his plate appearances while going 5-for-23 since rejoining Rochester.

  • Nationals' Jakson Reetz: Sent back to Triple-A

Reetz was optioned back to Triple-A Rochester on Friday, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports. Reetz recorded a double across two at-bats off the bench after being recalled July 10. With Washington signing catcher Rene Rivera to a major-league deal Friday, Reetz will head back to Rochester for the time being. Given that both Yan Gomes (oblique) and Alex Avila (calf) could possibly return by month's end, there's a good chance Reetz will remain in Triple-A at least until rosters expand in September.

  • Nationals' Jakson Reetz: Called up Saturday

The Nationals selected Reetz's contract from Triple-A Rochester on Saturday, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports. He was rushed to San Francisco for the Saturday afternoon game and will serve as the backup catcher while Yan Gomes (oblique) and Alex Avila (calf) spend time on the injured list. Reetz appeared in just three Triple-A games and went hitless after hitting .233 in 120 Double-A at-bats earlier this season.

  • Nationals' Jakson Reetz: Joins 60-man pool

Reetz has been added to the Nationals' 60-man player pool, Jessica Camerato of MLB.com reports. The 24-year-old is one of six catchers in the pool, and Reetz is highly unlikely to see action with the big-league club after having yet to advance past High-A in his career. He did show some promise with his bat in 2019, however, slashing .253/.370/.441 with 13 homers in 96 games for High-A Potomac.

  • Nationals' Jakson Reetz: Finally making progress

Reetz hit .282 with 12 of his 13 homers and a .563 slugging percentage after the All-Star break last year for High-A Potomac, Byron Kerr of MASN reports. Drafted in the third round in 2014, Reetz's climb up the ladder in the Nats' organization has been slowed in large part due to injuries. The 24-year-old was able to stay healthy and put together an impressive second half last season -- both his 13 homers and 96 games played were career highs -- and he carried that momentum into the Arizona Fall League, leading the Surprise squad with a .333 batting average. Context can't be overlooked here, as a 23-year-old in his third campaign at High-A should be expected to post strong offensive numbers. If Reetz has turned a corner in his development, though, he could establish himself as a future major leaguer with a good showing at Double-A in 2020.
