  • Dodgers' Omar Estevez: Receives summer camp invitation

Estevez was added to the Dodgers' 60-man player pool Sunday.

Estevez had been tabbed to open the campaign at Triple-A before play was suspended in March, but the modified roster rules for the 2020 campaign will allow the infielder to be part of the Dodgers' expanded roster instead. Although Estevez impressed at the Double-A level last season, the Dodgers have so much depth that it is unlikely he gets much, if any, MLB playing time this season.

  • Dodgers' Omar Estevez: Likely to open season at Triple-A

Estevez is expected to open the 2020 campaign with Triple-A Oklahoma City, Howard Cole of Sports Illustrated reports.

Estevez showed well in his first stop at Double-A last season, slashing .291/.352/.431 with six home runs in 336 plate appearances. His defense remains a work in progress and he has notched double-digit home runs in only one minor-league campaign thus far, but the 22-year-old has shown a solid enough bat to justify a promotion to the next level. Estevez collected two hits -- including a solo home run -- in 15 Cactus League at-bats before he was reassigned to minor-league camp.

  • Dodgers' Omar Estevez: Sent to minors camp

Estevez was reassigned to minor-league camp Monday, Eric Stephen of TrueBlueLA.com reports.

Estevez appeared in 11 contests while in big-league camp, going 2-for-15 with a solo home run and a walk. He spent the majority of his 2019 season at Double-A Tulsa, putting together a .291/.352/.431 slash line with six long balls and 36 RBI over 83 contests.

  • Dodgers' Omar Estevez: Returns to action Thursday

Estevez (shoulder) went 0-for-1 in Thursday's Cactus League game against Oakland.

Estevez had been slowed by a shoulder issue at the start of the week, but he felt well enough to log a spring at-bat Thursday. The 22-year-old is likely to open the season at the Triple-A level after hitting .291 in 299 at-bats with Double-A Tulsa last season.

  • Dodgers' Omar Estevez: Slowed by sore shoulder

Estevez is dealing with a sore right shoulder, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

The severity of the issue and when Estevez is expected to return to the field are not yet known. The second baseman played 83 games for Double-A Tulsa last season, hitting .291/.352/.431.

  • Dodgers' Omar Estevez: Selected for Arizona Fall League

Estevez will play with Glendale in the Arizona Fall League, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

In his first stint at the Double-A level, Estevez has hit .294 with six homers and 35 RBI in 279 at-bats this season. He will now have the opportunity to test his skills against many of baseball's best prospects in the AFL.

  • Dodgers' Omar Estevez: Hitting well in Double-A

Estevez is slashing .333/.412/.456 through 114 at-bats for Double-A Tulsa.

The 21-year-old infielder got off to a blistering start with a .385/.449/.546 slash line over his first month, and while he's cooled a little bit since then, he's still sporting a .868 OPS to go along with two homers and 12 RBI. This is on the heels of a solid campaign for High-A Rancho Cucamonga last year, when he hit .278 with 15 homers and 84 RBI in 515 at-bats. Estevez is also showing vastly improved plate discipline this season, as he boasts a 16:24 K:BB. He's currently on the 7-day injured list with an undisclosed leg injury, but if he can continue to produce when he gets back, he could garner himself a look for a move to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
