  • Brewers' Thomas Pannone: Signs with Milwaukee

Pannone signed a minor-league contract with the Brewers on Friday which includes an invitation to spring training, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Pannone split his time last season between the Korea Baseball Organization's Kia Tigers and Triple-A Worcester in the Red Sox organization. The 28-year-old has a 5.43 ERA over 49 appearances -- 13 starts -- at the major-league level.

  • Thomas Pannone: Headed to KBO

The Red Sox granted Pannone his release from his minor-league contract Monday, with the left-hander planning to sign a deal with the Korea Baseball Organization's Kia Tigers, Joe McDonald of the Worcester Telegram & Gazette reports.

Pannone hadn't appeared in the big leagues since the 2019 season and wasn't in line for a call-up to Boston at any point in the near future, so he'll head overseas on what's presumably a more lucrative contract. In 14 appearances (12 starts) for Triple-A Worcester this season, Pannone contributed a 4.57 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 70:8 K:BB across 63 innings.

  • Red Sox's Thomas Pannone: Starts for Boston's Triple-A club

Pannone will start Triple-A Worcester's second game of the season Wednesday against Jacksonville, Joe McDonald of the Worcester Telegram & Gazette reports.

Pannone signed a minor-league deal with the Red Sox on March 11 and reported to big-league camp, but he made only one Grapefruit League appearance before being reassigned to Worcester. The 27-year-old lefty previously made 49 appearances (13 starts) at the big-league level with Toronto between the 2018 and 2019 seasons, but he's pitched exclusively in the minors ever since.

  • Angels' Thomas Pannone: Joining Angels for camp

Pannone signed with the Angels as a non-roster invitee Thursday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Pannone has thrown 116 career innings at the highest level but hasn't had much success, posting a 5.43 ERA. He failed to make an appearance last season for the Blue Jays. Being left-handed gives him an easier path to a bullpen role, but if he does win a job it will likely be a low-leverage position.

  • Blue Jays' Thomas Pannone: Outrighted to alternate site

Pannone was outrighted to the Blue Jays' alternate training site Friday, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports.

Pannone was designated for assignment earlier in the week and was not claimed on waivers. As a result, he will remain in the Blue Jays' organization and continue staying in shape at the alternate site.

  • Blue Jays' Thomas Pannone: Cast off 40-man roster

The Blue Jays designated Pannone for assignment Monday.

His removal from the 40-man roster clears a spot for reliever Travis Bergen, who will replace injured starter Trent Thornton (elbow) on the 28-man active roster. Pannone was invited to the Blue Jays' summer camp, but the 26-year-old wasn't able to secure a spot on the Opening Day roster coming off a season in which he posted a 6.16 ERA over 73 innings.

  • Blue Jays' Thomas Pannone: Nabs spot in roster pool

The Blue Jays included Pannone as part of their 60-man roster pool that was announced Sunday, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

The lefty has made 13 starts for Toronto across the past two seasons, but with the Blue Jays including a number of starting options among their roster pool, expect him to work exclusively as a reliever or opening pitcher in 2020. The southpaw has posted a career 5.43 ERA over 116 innings at the big-league level.

  • Blue Jays' Thomas Pannone: Headed to Triple-A

Pannone was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Thursday, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Pannone is on track to begin the 2020 season in the minors as he continues to work on his transition to relief. Across 48.1 innings as a reliever with the big club in 2019, Pannone notched a 3.54 ERA while limiting opposing hitters to a .225/.320/.382 triple-slash.

  • Blue Jays' Thomas Pannone: Will work out of bullpen

Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo said Monday that Pannone will compete for a spot in the club's Opening Day bullpen, Scott Mitchell of TSN.ca reports.

The lefty worked as a starter in 13 of his 49 appearances with Toronto the past two seasons, but the 25-year-old looks like he'll be making the full-time transition to relief after finding success in that capacity in 2019. Over his 48.1 innings as a reliever with the big club last season, Pannone posted a 3.54 ERA while limiting opposing hitters to a .225/.320/.382 slash line.

  • Blue Jays' Thomas Pannone: Yields three runs in first inning

Pannone (3-6) allowed three runs on four hits with no walks or strikeouts in one inning while taking a loss against the Orioles on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old hadn't recorded six outs in any of his last five appearances before Tuesday, so he was never expected to last long in this one, but giving up three runs wasn't part of the plan. This outing snapped a six-inning shutout streak for Pannone and stuck him with his sixth loss. He is 3-6 with a 6.19 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 68 strikeouts in 72.2 innings this season.

  • Blue Jays' Thomas Pannone: Slated to start Tuesday

Pannone is scheduled to start Tuesday against the Orioles, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Pannone is starting in place of Anthony Kay, who was scratched with side soreness. The lefty hasn't gone more than 1.2 innings in any of his five appearances this month, so he'll likely pitch one or two innings before exiting.

Pannone entered the contest with a one-run deficit after Wilmer Font opened Sunday's clash, and after firing a scoreless third inning, he went on to allow four runs in the fourth on a pair of homers. The 25-year-old southpaw sits with an unimpressive 6.44 ERA and 1.40 WHIP with a 62:28 K:BB over 65.2 innings this season for Toronto.

  • Blue Jays' Thomas Pannone: Following opener Sunday

Pannone will work as the primary pitcher Sunday versus the Mariners, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Pannone worked behind an opener Tuesday and had one of his better outings of the season with four shutout innings, so he'll once again follow right-hander Wilmer Font. Pannone has struggled in 2019 with a 6.39 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 60:26 K:BB through 62 innings.
