  • Rangers' Yerry Rodriguez: Sent back to minors

Rodriguez was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock by the Rangers on Monday. The move comes one day after Rodriguez was knocked around for three runs while recording just one out in an appearance versus the Astros. He'll be replaced on the roster by Michael Lorenzen (neck), who will come off the injured list to start Monday in Detroit.

  • Rangers' Yerry Rodriguez: Throws two scoreless

Rodriguez allowed one hit and two walks (one intentional) while striking out two over two scoreless innings in Sunday's 9-5 loss to the Cubs. Rodriguez breezed through the seventh inning before working out of a bases-loaded, two-out jam. The right-hander has legitimate heat with a fastball that averaged 97.5 mph and topped out at 98.5. Rodriguez, who had command issues (4.0 BB/9) in 13 games for the Rangers in 2023, showed improvement in that area during spring training. The 26-year-old could be a weapon in the bullpen if he can locate his pitches with consistency.

General manager Chris Young said Wednesday that Rodriguez will be included in the Rangers' Opening Day bullpen, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports. Rodriguez, 26, has made 14 career appearances at the big-league level, pitching to a 7.36 ERA and 1.84 WHIP over 14.2 innings. He'll likely be ticketed for lower-leverage work out of the Texas bullpen.

Rodriguez was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Friday. Rodriguez will head back to Triple-A after being called up Saturday. Texas optioned Rodriguez to Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports. Rodriguez has allowed two earned runs in 5.1 innings of work this season out of the Rangers' bullpen. The 25-year-old right-hander should get another shot soon enough.

  • Rangers' Yerry Rodriguez: Recalled by Rangers

Rodriguez was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday. Rodriguez made four relief appearances for the Rangers earlier in the year but didn't do much of note, allowing two runs on four hits across four innings while striking out one batter and walking two. His 4.91 ERA and 16.9 percent walk rate in 15 outings for Round Rock suggest he'll be limited to low-leverage duty in the majors. Spencer Howard was demoted in a corresponding move.

The Rangers optioned Rodriguez to Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday. Rodriguez, who made one appearance out of the Texas bullpen in 2022 in what was his MLB debut, fell short in his bid for a spot on the Rangers' Opening Day roster after he was tagged for five runs (four earned) on five hits and one walk across three innings in Cactus League play.

  • Rangers' Yerry Rodriguez: Competing for bullpen spot

Rodriguez will be competing for a full-time spot in the Rangers' bullpen this season, MLB Pipeline reports. He has a sweeping low-80s slider to pair with his plus fastball. • Rangers' Yerry Rodriguez: Sent to minors

The Rangers optioned Rodriguez to Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday. While working as a swingman at Round Rock following a mid-season promotion from Double-A Frisco in 2021, Rodriguez appeared in 13 games (four starts) at the Triple-A level and finished with an 8.01 ERA and 1.63 WHIP across 30.1 frames.

  • Rangers' Yerry Rodriguez: Added to 40-man roster

Rodriguez's contract was purchased by the Rangers on Friday. At his best, Rodriguez can look like one of the top pitching prospects in this system, but he has also been slowed by injuries, most notably a sprained UCL in July of 2019. The 23-year-old righty is supposedly healthy and will likely open the 2021 season at High-A or Double-A.
