Phillies' Will Toffey: Suffers separated shoulder
Toffey separated his left shoulder while diving for a relay throw during Tuesday's Grapefruit League contest versus the Pirates, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
It's not clear how long this might keep Toffey sidelined. The 28-year-old is in camp as a non-roster invitee and was likely headed to Triple-A Lehigh Valley to start the season even if he were healthy.

Phillies' Will Toffey: Returns to Triple-A
Toffey was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley after Wednesday's loss to the Blue Jays.
Toffey had his contract selected prior to Wednesday's contest and will head back to the minors without making his MLB debut. He'll return to Lehigh Valley, where he has a .266/.385/.438 slash line with three home runs, 22 RBI and nine stolen bases in 58 games.

Phillies' Will Toffey: Called up from Triple-A
The Phillies selected Toffey's contract from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Wednesday, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Currently with the fourth organization of his career after being drafted by the Athletics in 2017 and traded three times, Toffey will get the opportunity to play in the majors for the first time. His stint with the Phillies may not last beyond Wednesday, provided Alec Bohm's dislocated finger doesn't result in a trip to the injured list once he's reinstated from the restricted list Thursday. Toffey has slashed .266/.385/.438 with three home runs and nine stolen bases in 235 plate appearances at Triple-A this season.

Phillies' Will Toffey: Dealt to Phillies
Toffey was traded by the Giants to the Phillies on Sunday in exchange for Luke Williams.
Toffey was acquired by the Giants in July of 2021, and he reached Triple-A Sacramento later that season. He hit .270/.407/.378, good for a 107 wRC+. Toffey is entering his age-27 season but has yet to make his major-league debut, and he is likely to remain organizational depth with the Phillies.

Giants' Will Toffey: Shipped to San Francisco
Toffey was acquired by the Giants from the Mets on Friday in exchange for lefty Anthony Banda, Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News reports.
Toffey was at Double-A Binghamton for the third year this season, so a change of scenery could do him some good. The 26-year-old has a .178/.317/.386 slash line with six homers, 15 RBI and six stolen bases in 34 games in 2021.

Mets' Will Toffey: On a roll at Binghamton
Toffey went 2-for-3 with a walk, a double, a run scored and an RBI for Double-A Binghamton on Tuesday.
The 24-year-old is repeating Double-A to begin this season and had a rough start in his return to the Eastern League, but he's finally catching fire at the plate, slashing .359/.447/.513 over the last 12 games with a 7:10 BB:K. Picked up from the A's last year in the Jeurys Familia deal, Toffey has yet to show much power as a pro, but his glovework and plate discipline could allow him to reach the majors as a bench player.

Mets' William Toffey: Traded to Mets
Toffey was shipped to the Mets on Saturday along with pitcher Bobby Wahl and international signing money in exchange for Jeurys Familia.
Toffey was the Athletics' fourth-round pick in the 2017 draft. The third baseman hit a mediocre .244/.357/.384 with five homers in 48 games for High-A Stockton prior to the trade. He'll be promoted to Double-A Binghamton by the Mets.
