The Angels reassigned Vieaux to minor-league camp Tuesday.
Vieaux made his major-league debut with the Pirates last season, allowing 10 earned runs over 8.2 innings though he also managed to strike out 15 batters in that time. His Triple-A numbers from 2022 were much better (3.06 ERA, 1.04 WHIP) and he will likely return there for the start of 2023.

He was sent out to Indianapolis to clear a spot in the bullpen for Miguel Yajure, who is capable of offering more length in a relief role after being deployed as a starter at Triple-A. During his week-and-a-half-long stint in the majors, Vieaux appeared in three games and gave up two earned runs on four hits and a walk while striking out seven in 3.2 innings.

After getting his first big-league call-up June 17, Vieaux quickly rose up the bullpen depth chart upon striking out six over 3.2 scoreless innings in his first three appearances. Things unraveled for him thereafter, however, as he retired only one of the four batters he faced in a June 29 outing in Washington, then was lit up for eight runs (seven earned) over an inning of relief against Milwaukee two days later. Vieaux hadn't been used since that appearance and will now head back to the minors with Pittsburgh needing to open up a spot on the active roster for fellow reliever Yerry De Los Santos, who was reinstated from the COVID-19-related injured list.
