Luzardo (4-4) took the loss Thursday, allowing five runs on four hits and a walk over 5.1 innings against the Padres. He struck out eight.
Luzardo falls to 1-2 over his last four outings, though he's logged at least seven strikeouts in each start. He was sharp in his first three innings Thursday, retiring the first nine batters faced while punching out five. However, the Padres pushed across two runs on a pair of doubles in the fourth, and Luzardo unraveled from there. The 25-year-old lefty's ERA is up to 4.05 with a 1.35 WHIP and 78:20 K:BB. Luzardo is currently lined up for a friendlier matchup at home against the Royals in his next outing.

Luzardo had a nice rebound game after coughing up six runs in five innings May 21 against the Giants. The southpaw is currently on pace to pitch the most innings of his career -- he's already thrown 61.1 innings in 2023, and his career high is 100.1. Luzardo is tentatively slated to face the Padres at home in his next appearance.

Luzardo allowed four runs through five frames, then gave up a double and an RBI single to begin the sixth, and Andrew Nardi allowed the inherited runner to score. The six runs allowed were a season high for Luzardo, and he allowed multiple home runs for the second time in 10 starts. He has a 3.83 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 63:18 K:BB through 56.1 innings overall. Luzardo hadn't collected a win in his last four starts, but he was able to limit the damage effectively Tuesday. This was his fourth quality start of the season, and the first time since April 5 that he kept an opponent to one run or fewer. The southpaw now has a 3.38 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 48:16 K:BB through 45.1 innings over eight starts this year. He's surrendered at least five hits in all but one of his outings, but he's yet to really get hit hard. Luzardo is projected for a favorable home start versus the Nationals next week.

Luzardo (2-2) allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits and three walks with five strikeouts in 5.2 innings, taking the loss versus Atlanta on Thursday.
Luzardo turned in another decent effort, though the five strikeouts matched his season low. The southpaw threw 106 pitches (68 strikes), but Atlanta's offense proved to be a bit too much. His 3.66 ERA is fine, but a 1.40 WHIP and 43:14 K:BB through 39.1 innings doesn't suggest significant room for improvement unless he can start limiting baserunners better. Luzardo projects for a road start in Arizona next week.

Through six innings, the only damage against Luzardo came on a solo homer by Nelson Velazquez in the third, but the southpaw got charged with one more run in the seventh. He'd allowed 10 runs over his previous three starts but lowered his ERA to 3.48 after this outing. Luzardo has also forced double-digit whiffs in every start this year, including 13 on Friday. He's currently lined up for a rematch with the Cubs in Chicago next week.

Luzardo held Cleveland off the board in the first two innings and set down the first two batters in the third. However, he surrendered a two-out triple to Amed Rosario, followed by back-to-back home runs from Jose Ramirez and Josh Bell. It's the second straight outing during which Luzardo couldn't make it out of the fifth inning after going at least six in his previous two starts.
