The White Sox traded Rodriguez to the Phillies on Friday in exchange for cash considerations. Rodriguez was designated for assignment Thursday but will remain on a 40-man roster as he joins the Phillies organization. The 22-year-old infielder reached Triple-A for the first time last season, slashing .253/.270/.379 across 89 plate appearances, and he made his big-league debut in June as a pinch runner, but Philadelphia optioned him to Double-A Reading after acquiring him.... White Sox's Jose Rodriguez: Ticketed for minors
The White Sox optioned Rodriguez to Triple-A Charlotte on Friday. Rodriguez was called up by the White Sox for two short stints in the majors last season but didn't make his big-league debut. The 22-year-old spent most of the campaign at Double-A Birmingham, where he had a .264/.297/.450 slash line with 18 homers and 28 steals in 87 contests.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Jose Rodriguez: Returns to big leagues
Rodriguez was recalled from Double-A Binghamton on Friday. Rodriguez was up briefly with the White Sox back in June but didn't receive a plate appearance. He's posted a .747 OPS with 18 home runs and 28 stolen bases in 87 games with Binghamton this season. The 22-year-old can handle second base, third base and shortstop.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Jose Rodriguez: Brought up from Double-A
Rodriguez was recalled from Double-A Birmingham on Monday, LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune reports. Rodriguez got off to a slow start with Birmingham but has put together a robust .353/.384/.662 slash line with five home runs and four stolen bases over his last 16 contests. The 22-year-old is regarded as one of the White Sox's better prospects and possesses an intriguing skill set for fantasy with some pop and speed. However, there's no guarantee that he'll play regularly, so fantasy managers shouldn't be rushing out to grab him.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Jose Rodriguez: On track for spring training
White Sox assistant general manager Chris Getz said that Rodriguez (hand) is on track to be ready for spring training, James Fegan of The Athletic reports. "There certainly wasn't a hotter hitter in our system than Jose Rodriguez right before breaking his hamate bone [in an Aug. 20 game]," Getz said. "He's doing normal baseball activities right now, and he'll do that for a little bit longer. But he undoubtedly will be ready to go in spring training and show us what he's capable of doing." Rodriguez was one of the more notable prospects that the White Sox added to their 40-man roster earlier this month. Before he was shut down for the season in late August after fracturing the hamate bone of his left hand on a home-run swing, Rodriguez produced a .280/.340/.430 slash line across 483 plate appearances at Double-A Birmingham. Though the second baseman looks like he'll get the opportunity to join big-league camp and theoretically compete for a spot on the White Sox's Opening Day roster, Rodriguez is more realistically headed for Triple-A Birmingham to begin the 2023 campaign.... White Sox's Jose Rodriguez: Joins 40-man roster
The White Sox added Rodriguez (hand) to their 40-man roster Tuesday. Rodriguez spent all of 2022 with Double-A Birmingham, where he slashed a respectable .280/.340/.430 through 483 plate appearances and stole 40 bases before suffering a season-ending left hand fracture in August.... White Sox's Jose Rodriguez: Serving as non-roster invitee
Rodriguez has been invited to big-league camp this spring. Rodriguez progressed to High-A Winston-Salem in August of 2021 and finished the year by making four appearances at Double-A Birmingham. Across 33 games with the two clubs, he hit .346 with five homers, 21 runs, 19 RBI and five stolen bases. The 20-year-old will develop with the big-league coaching staff this spring but appears likely to begin the 2022 campaign in Birmingham.... See More ... See Less
