Orioles' Seth Smith: Out again Saturday
Smith is not in the lineup Saturday against the Rays.
Smith is just 3-for-29 (.103) over 12 games this month, so he'll head to the bench for a sixth straight game as Austin Hays draws another start in right field. With Smith struggling, look for Hays, who is one of the Orioles' top prospects, to continue to see the majority of starts in right field down the stretch.

Orioles' Seth Smith: Sitting again Friday
Smith is not in the lineup for Friday's game against Tampa Bay.
Although the right-handed Alex Cobb is starting for the Rays, the Orioles will keep Smith out of the lineup for the fifth consecutive game. Smith has played 12 games since the start of September, over which he's gone just 3-for-29 (.103). Austin Hays will get the nod to patrol right field Friday with Smith out of the lineup.

Showalter didn't offer much else regarding Smith's status, so it remains unclear when the issue cropped up or how serious it is. Consider him day-to-day for now, while more should be known about his status closer to Thursday's series opener against the A's.
