Wainright will be back with the Suns for the 2023-24 season after his $1.9 million option was picked up this week, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. The Suns now have six players under contract heading into free agency. With Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal, Deandre Ayton and Devin Booker taking up so much room on their books, the Suns will be looking for affordable depth and Wainright certainly fits the bill. Wainright made 60 appearances for the Suns last season, averaging 4.2 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.0 three-pointers on 37 percent shooting from the field.... See More ... See Less

Suns' Ish Wainright: Retreats to bench
Wainright isn't starting Game 1 of the Western Conference First Round against the Clippers on Sunday. Wainright joined the starting unit for the Suns' regular-season finale, but he'll unsurprisingly retreat to the bench for the start of the playoffs. He's averaging 4.1 points and 2.2 rebounds in 14.9 minutes per game when coming off the bench this season.... See More ... See Less -
Suns' Ish Wainright: Starting Sunday
Wainright will start Sunday's contest against the Clippers, Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN.com reports. With the Suns locked into the fourth seed and resting all their starters, Wainright draws a spot start and will be joined by Josh Okogie, Jock Landale, Landry Shamet and Saben Lee. In his lone start this season, Wainright posted six points and three rebounds in 14 minutes.... See More ... See Less -
Suns' Ish Wainright: Fails to score in victory
Wainright closed Thursday's 119-115 win over Denver with no counting stats in three minutes. Wainwright was barely noticeable in the win, failing to score for the second straight game. With the team now fully healthy, Wainwright finds himself on the fringe of the rotation. Much like the majority of teams at the moment, the Suns could make the decision to rest a few of their main guys before the season is done, affording Wainwright an expanded role. Should this happen, he could be worth a look in slightly deeper formats.... See More ... See Less -
Suns' Ish Wainright: Plays 25 minutes in loss
Wainright racked up eight points (3-6 FG, 2-5 3Pt), three rebounds and two blocks across 25 minutes during Tuesday's 116-104 loss to the Bucks. Wainright played his most minutes since Feb. 10, but it didn't help him produce a fantasy-friendly line, though he did tie his season high with two blocks. He's appeared in 18 straight games, averaging 5.6 points and 2.7 rebounds in 17.1 minutes. Wainright figures to continue garnering a solid reserve role while Kevin Durant (ankle) is out, but barring multiple injuries, it's safe to leave Wainright on the waiver wire in standard leagues.... Suns' Ish Wainright: Inks new deal with Phoenix
The Suns signed Wainwright to a two-year, $2.5 million deal with a team option for 2022-23 on Friday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. Wainwright was previously operating under a two-way contract and was nearing the 50-game limit, so he'll now be eligible to play in as many games as possible down the stretch. He's posting 4.3 points, 2.1 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 0.8 steals in 15.5 minutes across 42 appearances (one start).... See More ... See Less -
Suns' Ish Wainright: Big game off bench
Wainright finished Thursday's 116-107 loss to the Hawks with 17 points (4-8 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 6-6 FT), four rebounds, two assists, two blocks and three steals over 32 minutes. Wainright played a season-high 32 minutes off the bench Thursday night. The Suns were down to only nine active players, and the second-year forward delivered with the opportunity. His 17 points were a season high, and he recorded some excellent defensive numbers, including three steals and two blocks. This kind of situation is only temporary for him though, so fantasy managers need not look too much into this performance, especially if Phoenix is at full strength for Friday night's game.... Suns' Ish Wainright: Plays 20 minutes off bench
Wainright closed Monday's 114-106 victory over the Raptors with seven points (3-4 FG, 1-2 3Pt), three rebounds, three assists and three steals across 20 minutes. Wainright played 20-plus minutes for just the ninth time this season and submitted one of his best overall performances of the campaign. The two-way forward's role has fluctuated this season, but he's never garnered a large enough role to be fantasy relevant.... See More ... See Less -
Suns' Ish Wainright: Handed extra minutes in blowout
Wainright provided eight points (3-6 FG, 2-5 3Pt), five rebounds, two assists and two steals across 22 minutes during Monday's 130-104 win over the Lakers. Wainright benefitted from the Suns jumping out to a large lead, handling his most playing time since Dec. 4 against the Spurs (28 minutes). The Baylor product tied his best mark of the season with eight points and also turned in his best rebounding performance since Nov. 20.... See More ... See Less -
Suns' Ish Wainright: Returns to bench role
Wainright isn't in the starting five for Wednesday's matchup with Boston, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports. Wainright will move back to the bench Wednesday, with Torrey Craig (groin) returning to the starting lineup. Wainright is averaging 4.4 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 13.8 minutes across nine games this season.... See More ... See Less -
Suns' Ish Wainright: Making first career start
Wainright is starting Monday's contest against the Mavericks. The 28-year-old forward will officially enter the starting lineup for the first time in his career Monday. With Torrey Craig (groin) on the sidelines over the Suns' previous two contests, Wainright has averaged 8.0 points, 1.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists across 23.5 minutes while coming off the bench. Wainright is in a great spot to continue seeing increased playing time as he enters Phoenix's starting five.... See More ... See Less -
Suns' Ish Wainright: Perfect from floor in win
Wainright produced six points (2-2 FG, 2-2 3Pt), three rebounds, one assist and two blocks over 12 minutes during Tuesday's 115-105 win over the Lakers. Wainright attempted just two field goals during Tuesday's victory, but he converted on both of those three-point attempts to log a season-high six points. Although Wainright has rejoined the team after missing the start of the year due to a back injury and personal reasons, he's unlikely to be a consistent fantasy contributor.... See More ... Wainright (personal) remains out for Wednesday's game versus the Timberwolves. Wainright is still tending to a personal matter and it's unclear exactly when he will be back and ready to give it a go. Even when he's ready to rock, Wainright doesn't figure to tally more than a handful of minutes on a nightly basis.... See More ... See Less -
