The Ravens first-team defense put constant pressure on Panthers quarterback Cam Newton during their preseason showdown Saturday. In just five series, the Ravens' first teamers recorded two sacks, six additional quarterback hurries and either pressured or sacked Newton on nearly half of his 17 dropbacks, according to the Carroll County Times.

Saturday's performance has head coach John Harbaugh encouraged about his defense, especially a defensive line that features Terrell Suggs, Elvis Dumervil and Haloti Ngata.

"I’m encouraged by the pass rush," Harbaugh said. "You take the preseason games and the practices all into account. We’re going to have a really good pass rush. There’s no question that we’re going to be able to rush the passer."
