Brennan went 2-for-4 with a double and a solo home run in Thursday's 6-4 win over the Red Sox. Brennan opened the scoring with a solo shot off Chase Anderson in the second inning, his third homer of the year. Brennan's started to swing the bat well recently -- he's now 6-for-13 with five extra-base hits (including two homers) in his last four games. The left-hitting outfielder has gotten the majority of starts in right field this season with Ramon Laureano occupying the short side of the platoon. Brennan is now slashing .250/.310/.453 through 71 plate appearances with 11 runs scored, 10 RBI and two stolen bases.... See More ... See Less

Guardians' Will Brennan: Launches second homer
Brennan went 2-for-3 with a double, a solo home run and an additional run scored during Sunday's 6-2 win over the Athletics. Brennan teed off on A's starter Ross Stripling, tagging him for a long ball in the second inning and then hitting a double -- and eventually scoring -- in the fourth. The contest marked Brennan's first multi-hit game since Apr. 3 and broke him out of a 2-for-24 (.083) slump that spanned nine games. He's up to a .222 batting average on the season while striking out at a 14.8 percent clip.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Will Brennan: Takes seat for series finale
Brennan is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Red Sox. The Red Sox are opening the game with a left-hander (Brennan Bernardino), so the lefty-hitting Brennan will bow out of the starting nine in the series finale. Jose Ramirez will get a day off out of the field and serve as the Guardians' designated hitter in place of Brennan on Thursday.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Will Brennan: Blasts pinch-hit homer
Brennan went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run and two runs scored during Monday's 6-0 win over the Red Sox. Brennan entered the game as a pinch-hitter for Tyler Freeman in the seventh and on the eighth pitch of his at-bat broke up a scoreless tie by distributing a slider over the fence in right to plate the first two runs of the game. Brennan had not recorded a hit over his previous 11 at-bats and was on the bench for the third consecutive game prior to leaving his imprint on a Patriot's Day win over the Red Sox. The home run marked his first long ball of the season.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Will Brennan: Out of lineup again Monday
Brennan is not in the lineup for Monday's game versus the Red Sox. It's the third straight game that Brennan will begin on the bench, and two of them have been against right-handers. Brennan is 0-for-11 over his last five contests and looks to be slipping behind Estevan Florial in the Guardians outfield/designated hitter pecking order.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Will Brennan: Drives in two, swipes bag
Brennan went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's win over the Mariners. Brennan drove home Jose Ramirez with an infield single in the first to put the Guardians up 3-0 and later swiped a bag in the inning, giving him two steals on the season. The outfielder then added another RBI single in the fourth as the Guardians continued their offensive surge. Brennan has now logged two hits in back-to-back games, raising his average to .286 in the process.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Will Brennan: Nabs steal Saturday
Brennan went 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Saturday's 12-3 win over the Athletics. Brennan came into the game as a pinch hitter for Ramon Laureano once the Athletics took starter JP Sears out. It's an emerging platoon in right field for the Guardians that would see Brennan on the strong side, though he's started just one of three games so far since the Athletics have started a southpaw twice. Brennan is 2-for-7 with one RBI, a walk, a strikeout and a steal through two contests and should offer modest speed upside when he gets in the lineup.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Will Brennan: Back to bench Saturday
Brennan is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Athletics. Brennan went 1-for-4 with one RBI on Friday as he got the start in right field against Oakland right-hander Ross Stripling. With the Athletics starting left-hander JP Sears on Saturday, Ramon Laureano will be back in right field while batting third in the Guardians' lineup.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Will Brennan: Not starting versus lefty
Brennan is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against Oakland. With left-hander Alex Wood starting on the hill for the A's, the lefty-hitting Brennan will retreat to the dugout Thursday. Ramon Laureano will start in right field as a result, allowing David Fry to serve as Cleveland's DH and bat fifth.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Will Brennan: On Opening Day roster
Brennan made the Guardians' Opening Day roster, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports. Brennan hit .266 with a .655 OPS and 13 stolen bases over 138 games last season while serving as the Guardians' primary right fielder. That spot is not guaranteed to him this season, as Estevan Florial and Ramon Laureano will also compete for playing time there. Brennan hit .243 in spring training, and as a left-handed batter, he could be set for a strong-side platoon role once the games start to count.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Will Brennan: Sitting against lefty
Brennan is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Reds. Steven Kwan, Myles Straw and Ramon Laureano will start across the outfield for the Guardians as they take on left-hander Andrew Abbott. The left-handed-hitting Brennan has struggled to a .495 OPS in 86 plate appearances versus southpaws this year.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Will Brennan: Sitting out against lefty
Brennan isn't in the Guardians' lineup Saturday against the Orioles. Fellow left-hander John Means will start on the bump Saturday for Baltimore, so Brennan will take a seat for the beginning of the game. His absence will allow Ramon Laureano to start in right field while batting fourth.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Will Brennan: Notches steal Friday
Brennan went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, one RBI, one stolen base and two runs scored in Friday's 9-8 win over the Orioles. Brennan has done little in the way of counting stats in September with two steals, six RBI and eight runs scored over 19 games. All four of his extra-base hits this month have been doubles, but he is batting .308 in that span. The outfielder is up to 13 thefts with a .266/.300/.359 slash line, five home runs, 41 RBI and 40 runs scored through 133 contests overall.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Will Brennan: On bench versus lefty
Brennan is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels. Brennan will sit against Halos lefty Kenny Rosenberg, which is his third time out of the lineup in Cleveland's past four games. Steven Kwan, Myles Straw and Kole Calhoun will start from left to right in the outfield Sunday.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Will Brennan: Three-hit effort in loss
Brennan went 3-for-5 with a double, one RBI and one run scored in Monday's 20-6 loss to the Twins. Brennan has come to life at the plate over his last 11 games, going 14-for-34 (.412) in that span, albeit with just one extra-base hit. The outfielder's lost a grip on an everyday role with Ramon Laureano muscling his way into the lineup, though Myles Straw is most likely to be at risk of losing additional playing time going forward. Brennan is at a .266/.296/.363 slash line with five home runs, 11 stolen bases, 36 RBI, 34 runs scored and 21 doubles over 118 games.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Will Brennan: Heads to bench Sunday
Brennan is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays. Brennan went 6-for-17 with a walk, two RBI, a stolen base and a run scored while starting each of the past five games, but he'll take a seat for the series finale with the Guardians welcoming Josh Naylor (oblique) back from the injured list Sunday and deploying him at designated hitter. With Ramon Laureano having seemingly moved into a full-time role in the outfield, the addition of Naylor could result in one of Brennan or Myles Straw losing out on playing time alongside Laureano and Steven Kwan. Brennan appears to have the edge over Straw for now, with the latter having sat out two of the Guardians' last five matchups with right-handed starting pitchers.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Will Brennan: Picks up 11th steal
Brennan went 1-for-3 with a walk, one RBI and a stolen base in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Twins. Brennan was bothered by a right knee strain over the weekend, but his activity on the basepaths suggests that's no longer a concern. The outfielder is hitting just .224 (13-for-58) in August with three doubles, four steals and no home runs. For the season, he's at a modest .256/.288/.355 slash line with five homers, 11 steals, 35 RBI and 32 runs scored through 113 contests.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Will Brennan: Out again Sunday
Brennan (knee) remains out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays. He'll be on the bench for a third straight game while he battles a right knee strain, though the lefty-hitting Brennan may not have started Sunday even if 100 percent healthy due to the Blue Jays bringing southpaw Yusei Kikuchi to the hill. Ramon Laureano will step in for Brennan as Cleveland's starting right fielder.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Will Brennan: Scratched with knee strain
Brennan was scratched from the lineup Friday at Toronto due to a strained right knee, Paul Hoynes of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Brennan suffered the injury when he ran into the outfield wall Thursday against the Dodgers. He has not yet been placed on the 10-day injured list, so it may be a relatively minor knee strain. Consider him day-to-day for now.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Will Brennan: Notches steal Thursday
Brennan went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Thursday's 9-3 loss to the Dodgers. Brennan has picked up his pace on the basepaths, swiping three bags over his last six games while going 6-for-20 (.300) in that span. The outfielder appears to have settled into a strong-side platoon role in right field, sharing the position with the righty-hitting duo of Ramon Laureano and Oscar Gonzalez. Brennan is slashing .257/.289/.359 with five home runs, 10 steals, 33 RBI, 32 runs scored and 20 doubles over 110 contests this season.... See More ... See Less
