Rams' Derion Kendrick: Sees usage increase in second year
Kendrick recorded 49 tackles (41 solo), 10 passes defended and an interception during the 2023 regular season over 17 games played.
Kendrick was given two opportunities throughout the season to prove his worth as a starter, as he began the year starting alongside Ahkello Witherspoon and regained the role after losing it to Cobie Durant for a few weeks in the middle of the season. Kendrick wouldn't be able to hang on to the starting job on his second chance, however, and was relegated to backup duty by Week 16. Witherspoon may leave in free agency, but the Rams may elect to shore up the position in the offseason, jeopardizing Kendrick's chances of increasing his playing time for a third consecutive season.

Rams' Derion Kendrick: Ready for Week 1
Kendrick (hamstring) was not included on the Rams' injury report Wednesday, Adam Grosbard of The Orange County Register reports.
Kendrick appears to be ready to go ahead of the 2023 season after he'd been nursing a hamstring injury the last couple weeks. The cornerback is expected to start in the Rams' secondary this year after compiling 43 tackles and four pass deflections over 15 games during his rookie campaign in 2022.

Kendrick (hamstring) is expected to return to practice this week, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
Kendrick has been dealing with an injured hamstring since training camp but now seems to be close to returning. The 2022 sixth-round pick should see solid playing time this season and could even compete for a starting role in what's become a thin position group following Jalen Ramsey's departure.

Coach Sean McVay said Kendrick is "making good progress," per Rodrigue, but a timetable for return is unclear. In a Jalen Ramsey-less cornerback room, Kendrick is competing for a starting job this summer. A sixth-round pick last year, Kendrick appeared in 15 games as a rookie, making six starts and playing 50 percent of the defensive snaps.

Kendrick recorded 10 tackles (eight solo) during Sunday's 27-23 loss to the Seahawks.
Kendrick played every defensive snap for the first time since Week 8 with starting cornerback Troy Hill ruled out with a groin injury against Seattle. The rookie cornerback has stepped up into a starting role numerous times in the Rams' banged-up secondary this season. However, this marked Kendrick's first career double-digit tackle performance, and he also paced the team in stops during this tough divisional loss. Kendrick should start again if Hill remains sidelined against Las Vegas on Thursday Night Football.

Kendrick has cleared concussion protocol and is available for Monday's game against the 49ers, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
Kendrick logged full practice sessions both Friday and Saturday and has shed his status on the injury report as a result. He made his professional debut in Week 3 and logged a 90 percent snap rate with David Long (groin) sidelined. Long has already been ruled out for Week 4, so Kendrick should see a significant role once again.
