Rockets' Daishen Nix: Fails to score in 11 minutes
Nix notched zero points (0-4 FG, 0-3 3Pt), one rebound and two assists over 11 minutes during Sunday's 134-109 loss to the Lakers.
Nix was a non-factor in the loss, continuing what has been an underwhelming stretch of games. He has failed to score in double figures since late February, despite the fact he has been a part of the rotation on most nights. While the Rockets are clearly building for the future, it is unlikely Nix features heavily in their long-term plans. His fantasy value is basically non-existent at this point.... See More ... Rockets' Daishen Nix: Scores nine off bench
Nix recorded nine points (3-8 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 1-2 FT), two rebounds, one assist and one steal over 20 minutes during Friday's 151-114 loss to Memphis.
Nix's minutes have been fairly low, but he was able to get a good chunk of minutes in garbage time Friday. The Rockets have a back-to-back set coming up starting Sunday, so he could be a candidate to see more minutes if the Rockets sit some veterans.... See More ... See Less
Rockets' Daishen Nix: Heads back to bench
Nix will move back to the bench Saturday against the Bulls, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Kevin Porter (thigh contusion) is returning from a one-game absence, so there are no surprises here. Nix did not take advantage of his expanded opportunity Thursday versus Indiana, as he was held to six points on 25 percent shooting in 35 minutes.... See More ... See Less
Rockets' Daishen Nix: Fails to deliver in start
Nix chipped in six points (3-12 FG, 0-2 3Pt), seven rebounds and two assists across 35 minutes before fouling out of Thursday's 134-125 overtime loss to Indiana.
Nix moved into the starting lineup Thursday, replacing Kevin Porter, who was ruled out due to a thigh injury. Despite playing 35 minutes, Nix failed to come through with the goods. While TyTy Washington continues to bide his time on the bench, head coach Stephen Silas has thus far refused to shake up the team's rotation. As long as Nix continues to log meaningful minutes, he is at least worth a look in deeper formats.... See More ... See Less
Rockets' Daishen Nix: Set to start against Indiana
Coach Stephen Silas said Nix is expected to be in the starting lineup for Thursday's game versus the Pacers, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Nix is slated to replace Kevin Porter (thigh) in the starting five Thursday despite not seeing any playing time in the last two games. Nix is averaging 6.8 points, 4.0 assists and 2.5 rebounds in 28.7 minutes across his previous six outings starting this season.... See More ... See Less
Rockets' Daishen Nix: Rejoins reserves
Nix will come off the bench for Wednesday's game against the Grizzlies, Jackson Gatlin of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.
Nix has rotated starts at the point guard spot with Kevin Porter (foot) out since Jan. 11 but will come off the bench in Porter's first game back. However, Porter will be under a rather severe minutes restriction Wednesday, so Nix should be expected to see 12-15 minutes off the bench but is not in fantasy consideration.... See More ... See Less
Rockets' Daishen Nix: Scores 14 with five dimes
Nix recorded 14 points (6-10 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 0-1 FT) and five assists across 26 minutes during Tuesday's 133-112 loss to the Nuggets.
Nix scored a season-high 16 points off the bench against the Trail Blazers on Sunday, and after he was rewarded with the start Tuesday, he posted a decent stat line while recording a second straight game with double-digit scoring figures. Nix could very well remain in the starting lineup when the Rockets take on the Grizzlies on Wednesday, but his long-term place in the first unit will be tied to the return date of Kevin Porter (foot).... Rockets' Daishen Nix: Gets starting nod
Nix is in the starting five for Tuesday's game versus the Nuggets, Jackson Gatlin of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.
Nix will replace TyTy Washington in the starting lineup Tuesday. Nix, a second-year guard, is averaging 5.4 points, 3.8 assists and 3.0 rebounds in 29.2 minutes across his previous five starts this season.... See More ... See Less
Rockets' Daishen Nix: Scores season-high 16 points
Nix contributed 16 points (7-19 FG, 2-7 3Pt), one rebound, three assists and one steal in 30 minutes during Sunday's 131-114 loss to the Trail Blazers.
Nix saw his most minutes since a Feb. 3 start and scored a season-high 16 points despite inefficient shooting. With Jalen Green (groin) joining Kevin Porter (foot) in street clothes the last two games, Nix has been elevated to the top guard off the bench behind TyTy Washington and Jae'Sean Tate. Nix should continue to play 20-plus minutes while Houston's top two guards are out, but due to his inconsistent shooting, he remains a risky play in most fantasy leagues. It's also expected that Porter and Green could be back on the floor for Houston within the next couple of games.... See More ... See Less
Rockets' Daishen Nix: Back to bench
Nix isn't in the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Kings, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Nix drew a start in each of his team's last four contests due to the absence of Kevin Porter (foot), Jalen Green (calf) and Alperen Sengun (illness), but he'll return to a bench role Monday evening. Nix finished with three points, two rebounds and three assists in 21 minutes during his last contest off the bench Jan. 26 against Cleveland.... See More ... See Less
Rockets' Daishen Nix: Starting Saturday
Nix will start Saturday's game against the Pistons, Lauren L. Williams of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Nix will make his second start of the season with the Rockets down Kevin Porter (foot), Jalen Green (calf) and Alperen Sengun (illness). In his prior start, Nix played 36 minutes but struggled, posting one point, one rebound, two assists, one steal and four turnovers.... See More ... See Less
Rockets' Daishen Nix: Back to bench
Nix isn't starting Monday's game against the Lakers, Harrison Faigen of SBNation.com reports.
Nix drew a spot start Sunday with both Jalen Green (suspension) and Kevin Porter (foot) out, but he'll return to a bench role now that Green has been reinstated. Nix has struggled to see much action in a bench role, averaging 2.0 points and 1.0 assists in 3.6 minutes over his last five contests as a reserve.... See More ... See Less
Rockets' Daishen Nix: Starting against Clippers
Nix will start at point guard in Sunday's game against the Clippers, Law Murray of The Athletic reports.
He'll pick up his first start of the season while Houston is down of its top two guards for the day in Jalen Green (suspension) and Kevin Porter (foot). Meanwhile, forward Jae'Sean Tate, who had been seeing some run as a backup point guard of late, is also suspended for the contest. Look for the Rockets to rely on Nix and rookie TyTy Washington to handle most of the minutes at point guard Sunday, even though both players had been on the outside of head coach Stephen Silas' rotation.... Rockets' Daishen Nix: Back in rotation Thursday
Nix totaled seven points (2-2 FG, 2-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT) and two assists over four minutes during Thursday's 129-114 loss to Dallas.
Nix logged four minutes in the loss, re-entering the rotation, albeit in garbage time. After playing as the primary backup behind Kevin Porter, Nix has since fallen out of the rotation, ceding his spot to TyTy Washington. Given the recent trajectory, Nix figures to be nothing more than a last resort in both fantasy and reality.... See More ... See Less
Rockets' Daishen Nix: Nine assists, three steals in loss
Nix ended with four points (2-7 FG, 0-4 3Pt), three rebounds, nine assists and three steals across 24 minutes during Monday's 124-105 loss to the Spurs.
Nix handed out a career-high nine assists in the loss, logging more than 20 minutes for just the fourth time this season. He continues to play backup minutes over TyTy Washington, something that could eventually change should the coaching staff opt to utilize some common sense. While he has been playing regular minutes, Nix should be viewed as nothing more than an assists streamer in deeper formats.... See More ... See Less
Rockets' Daishen Nix: Five points in 12 minutes
Nix finished Sunday's 97-92 win over the Bucks with five points (2-4 FG, 1-3 3Pt), one rebound, four assists and one steal in 12 minutes.
Nix continues to play a marginal role off the bench, logging fewer than 20 minutes for the 10th consecutive game. He has scored in double-digits only once thus far, sitting outside the top 300 for the season. Outside of very deep formats, there is no reason to have him on your radar.... See More ... See Less
Rockets' Daishen Nix: Plays season-high 25 minutes
Nix totaled three points (1-5 FG, 1-3 3Pt), two rebounds, one assist and one steal over 25 minutes during Friday's 99-91 loss to the Pacers.
Nix stepped into an increased role with Kevin Porter ruled out with a back injury. However, Nix was not able to capitalize on the promotion, scoring just three points for the third straight game. While there is certainly an element of upside when it comes to Nix, his nightly role is far too insignificant to warrant attention outside of the deepest fantasy leagues.... See More ... See Less
Rockets' Daishen Nix: Tallies 12 points in loss
Nix accumulated 12 points (4-8 FG, 4-6 3Pt), three rebounds, one assist and one steal across 21 minutes during Wednesday's 109-101 loss to the Clippers.
Nix has been an inconsistent contributor on the scoreboard early this season, but he scored in double figures for the first time Wednesday while shooting 66.7 percent from beyond the arc. While the 20-year-old hasn't had enough opportunities to put him on many fantasy radars, it's encouraging that he's shooting 47.1 percent from beyond the arc to begin the year.... See More ...
