  • Spurs' Victor Wembanyama: Won't play Friday

Wembanyama (hip) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Pelicans, Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News reports. Coach Gregg Popovich signaled after Thursday's loss to Atlanta that Wembanyama's status was uncertain for Friday's matchup, and the No. 1 overall pick will officially be sidelined for the second half of the back-to-back set. Wembanyama will have a few days to rest before the Spurs face Minnesota on Wednesday, while Cedi Osman and Charles Bassey could see increased run against New Orleans.

  • Spurs' Victor Wembanyama: Dealing with hip tightness

Wembanyama is questionable for Thursday's game against the Hawks due to right hip tightness. Despite concerns about his frame, Wembanyama has been durable enough to start his NBA career thus far. He's played in 17 straight games, averaging 19.2 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 2.6 blocks and 1.3 steals in 29.9 minutes per game. If Wembanyama is sidelined for the first time this year, Cedi Osman, Doug McDermott and Julian Champagnie would be candidates for increased roles.

  • Spurs' Victor Wembanyama: Drops 22 in Friday's loss

Wembanyama totaled 22 points (8-18 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 5-5 FT), nine rebounds, four assists, two blocks and one steal across 35 minutes during Friday's 118-112 loss to the Warriors. The teenage phenom is dealing with consistency issues in the early part of his NBA career, which is hardly surprising, but the baseline Wembanyama performance is already a fantasy bonanza. He's produced multiple blocks in 11 of his first 16 games and failed to record at least one only once, and he's also grabbed at least one steal in 12 of 16 games. Beyond his defensive contributions, Wembanyama's scored in double digits 14 times, drained multiple threes nine times, and hauled in at least eight boards 13 times. The Spurs haven't shied away from giving him a big workload, so he could wear down in the second half, but at least for now, Wembanyama is more than living up to his pre-draft hype.

  • Spurs' Victor Wembanyama: Sniffs triple-double in loss

Wembanyama ended with 19 points (6-17 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 5-6 FT), 13 rebounds, four assists, eight blocks and one steal across 31 minutes during Saturday's 120-108 loss to the Grizzlies. Wembanyama didn't have his best shooting performance, but he was massive on the defensive end and came just two blocks shy of posting a triple-double with points, rebounds and blocks -- something that hasn't been done since the 2017-18 season. The French big man continues to post impressive numbers for a struggling Spurs team, averaging 20.7 points, 10.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.4 blocks per game in November.

  • Spurs' Victor Wembanyama: Puts up 18-11-7 line in loss

Wembanyama supplied 18 points (8-22 FG, 2-9 3Pt), 11 rebounds, seven assists, one block and one steal across 34 minutes during Sunday's 118-113 loss to the Heat. While the No. 1 overall pick wasn't overly efficient and committed a season-high seven turnovers, he once again provided solid counting stats, as well as a pair of three-pointers, for fantasy managers. He's had some ups and downs, but overall Wembanyama is off to a strong start, thanks in large part to his 2.4 blocks per game. Through 10 appearances, he's shooting 44.7 percent from the field and 29.8 percent from three while knocking down 76.6 percent of his 4.7 free throw attempts per contest.

  • Spurs' Victor Wembanyama: Struggles shooting in defeat

Wembanyama contributed 14 points (4-14 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 6-6 FT), nine rebounds, two assists and one block in 30 minutes during Wednesday's 126-105 loss to the Knicks. Wembanyama struggled from the field in Wednesday's home loss, his second straight game of shooting less than 30 percent while failing to reach the 15-point mark. Wembanyama still led all Spurs players in rebounds, finishing one board shy of his fourth double-double of the season.

  • Spurs' Victor Wembanyama: Strong outing in comeback win

Wembanyama chipped in 18 points (6-12 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 4-5 FT), eight rebounds, one assist and four blocks across 28 minutes during Tuesday's 115-114 victory over the Suns. Wembanyama had another solid two-way display Tuesday, and he came up clutch down the stretch as the Spurs stole the win from the Suns in the final possession of the fourth quarter. The rookie has scored at least 15 points in three of his first four appearances and has dazzled with his play on both ends of the court, averaging 16.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.3 blocks, 1.5 assists and 1.3 steals to begin his NBA career.

  • Spurs' Victor Wembanyama: Impressive outing in win

Wembanyama racked up 21 points (7-19 FG, 0-6 3Pt, 7-8 FT), 12 rebounds, one assist, three blocks and two steals over 31 minutes during Friday's 126-122 overtime victory over the Rockets. Wembanyama struggled with foul trouble in the season opener, but that wasn't an issue here, and head coach Gregg Popovich managed to keep him in the game longer, ultimately translating to his first double-double in the NBA. The French rookie also drained a clutch floater to send the game to overtime, and despite the fact he's only 19 years old, he's already showing he should be a focal point of the offense going forward. It's still early in the season, but fantasy managers should be happy with what Wembanyama has done through his first two contests.

  • Spurs' Victor Wembanyama: Solid line despite shooting woes

Wembanyama ended with 15 points (3-10 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 7-8 FT), six rebounds, an assist, a steal and two blocks across 21 minutes in Wednesday's 117-103 preseason win over the Rockets. Wembanyama didn't have his best shooting performance, and thus, his scoring figures were not on the same level compared to what he posted in previous preseason contests. Regardless, he has shown he has the talent to contend for the Rookie of the Year award in 2023-24, and the Frenchman should have a prominent role on offense for San Antonio starting Opening Night.

  • Spurs' Victor Wembanyama: Starting as expected

Wembanyama is in the starting lineup to face the Rockets on Wednesday, Andrew Lopez of ESPN reports. As expected, Wembanyama will get the nod as he keeps ramping up minutes with the regular season just a few days away. Wembanyama is averaging 21.5 points per game in two preseason contests.

  • Spurs' Victor Wembanyama: Resting Monday

Wembanyama won't play in Monday's preseason game against the Rockets for rest purposes, Andrew Lopez of ESPN reports. Wembanyama will get a night off as the regular season approaches, though the No. 1 overall pick will most likely appear in one or both of the Spurs' final two preseason contests Wednesday against Houston and Friday versus Golden State. The 7-foot-3 big man has impressed in preseason action, averaging 21.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 blocks, 1.5 three-pointers and 1.0 steals in 21.0 minutes per game across two contests while shooting 64.3 percent from the field.

  • Spurs' Victor Wembanyama: Impressive against Miami

Wembanyama recorded 23 points (10-15 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, four assists and three blocks across 23 minutes in Friday's 120-104 preseason win over the Heat. Wembanyama is looking better and better with each passing game, and while he struggled a bit from three-point range in this one, he was virtually unstoppable near the rim. He also showed his elite defensive ability, particularly as a shot-blocking threat. Wembanyama should be a pivotal piece for the Spurs during the regular season and beyond.

  • Spurs' Victor Wembanyama: Joining team in Las Vegas

Wembanyama (rest) is on the Spurs' Summer League roster for Las Vegas, Andrew Lopez of ESPN.com reports. Wembanyama's first opportunity to see action will come in Friday's Summer League game against the Hornets. While the French phenom is expected to play, San Antonio may bring him along slowly and initially limit his minutes.

  • Spurs' Victor Wembanyama: Won't join team in Sacramento

Wembanyama won't join the Spurs in Sacramento to begin Summer League play in early July, Don Harris of News 4 San Antonio reports. Although Wembanyama will be sidelined for the California Classic, he'll join the team for the NBA 2K24 Summer League in Las Vegas, which begins July 7. The rookie's role in the Summer League remains to be seen, but he'll presumably see some game action once the Spurs arrive in Las Vegas. The 19-year-old was one of the best prospects in recent memory prior to being drafted by San Antonio at No. 1 overall, and he should immediately have a prominent role for the Spurs once the regular season gets underway.
