Nelson (illness) will be sidelined for the Texans' regular-season finale against the Colts, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Nelson has been sidelined all week with an illness and the Texans have opted to err on the side of caution. The next man up at cornerback is expected to be Tremon Smith, who will start opposite Desmond King.

Texans' Steven Nelson: Making return Week 16
Nelson (foot/knee) is active for Saturday's game against the Titans.
Nelson left the Week 14 game against Dallas early due to an injury, and he subsequently missed last week's contest against the Chiefs. However, he was able to log a trio of full practices this week and will suit up against Tennessee. Nelson will slot back into the starting lineup, pushing Tremon Smith back to a reserve role.

Texans' Steven Nelson: Back in full Tuesday
Nelson (foot/knee) was listed as a full participant on the Texans' injury report Tuesday.
Nelson was sidelined for each practice during Week 15 prep while dealing with a foot/knee injury, which left him sidelined for Sunday's overtime loss to the Chiefs. However, it appears he'll ultimately miss just one game with the issue, as he should be ready to play Week 15. Nelson has recorded 47 tackles, seven passes defended and an interception over 13 games this season, and he should reprise a starting role Saturday versus Tennessee.

Nelson (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's matchup against Kansas City.
Nelson didn't practice at all during Week 15 prep due to a foot injury that knocked him out of Houston's Week 14 loss to Dallas. Derek Stingley (hamstring) is also out, leaving Tavierre Thomas, Desmond King and Tremon Smith as the top cornerbacks against Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City's high-powered offense.

Nelson did not log a statistic before exiting in the first half. The eighth-year cornerback recorded 47 tackles, one sack, seven passes defended and a pick while playing almost every defensive snap over the first 12 games of the season.
