Colts' Yannick Ngakoue: Paces Indy in sacks
Ngakoue (neck) posted 29 tackles (18 solo), including 9.5 sacks, over 15 games before finishing the 2022 season on IR.
Ngakoue provided solid returns for the Colts after he was acquired via trade from Las Vegas last offseason. The 27-year-old pass-rushing specialist dealt with a nagging back injury to begin the season, though he still finished with a team high in sacks despite also missing the last two regular-season games on injured reserve with a throat injury. The 2017 Pro Bowler has now accumulated 65 sacks over seven seasons in the NFL. This campaign also completed a two-year, $26 million deal that Ngakoue originally penned with the Raiders, so he'll become an unrestricted free agent unless the Colts work out a new deal with him this offseason.

Colts' Yannick Ngakoue: Done for year
Ngakoue (throat) was placed on injured reserve Saturday.
The talented pass rusher was evidently hit in the throat during Monday's loss to the Chargers, an injury that will end Ngakoue's season early. The 27-year-old tallied a team-high 9.5 sacks in his first season with the Colts and proved to be a solid offseason addition. Alongside the young and emerging Kwity Paye and Dayo Odeyingbo, Ngakoue should be poised for more sack production in future seasons.

Colts' Yannick Ngakoue: Late add to Week 17 injury report
Ngakoue is considered questionable to play Sunday versus the Giants due to a throat injury, Zak Keefer of The Athletic reports.
Ngakoue popped up on the Colts' Week 17 injury report for the first time Friday. It's unclear when or how this throat issue first arose, as the 27-year-old defensive end still was still a full participant during the team's final practice ahead of Sunday's game. Ngakoue has recorded a team-high 9.5 sacks over 15 games during his first season with Indianapolis in 2022, so it will be worth monitoring his availability on the inactives list released 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 1 pm E.T. kickoff. Should Ngakoue ultimately sit out, expect Ben Banogu and Dayo Odeyingbo to see increased usage opposite starter Kwity Paye.

Colts' Yannick Ngakoue: Set to play Monday night
Ngakoue (back) is not on the Colts' list of inactives for Monday's contest against Pittsburgh.
Ngakoue was added to Indianapolis' injury report as a limited practice participant Friday due to a back issue, and he sat out Saturday's session entirely. However, he's been cleared to take the field for Monday Night Football. DeForest Buckner (ribs/illness) is also active for the contest, so the Colts will be able to deploy their top two sackers against a Steelers squad that ranks in the bottom fourth of the league in sacks allowed per contest this season.

Colts' Yannick Ngakoue: Could sit Monday night
The Colts list Ngakoue as questionable for Monday's game against the Steelers with a back injury.
Ngakoue avoided the Colts' initial Week 12 injury report, but he was added to the list Friday after he was limited in practice that day. He was then listed as a non-participant Saturday for the Colts' final practice of the week, a development that suggests he could be in danger of missing his first game of the season. The edge rusher has produced at least a half-sack in each of his last five appearances and is up to 6.5 through 11 appearances on the campaign.
