It has been a real tough sophomore season for Sillinger, who snapped a 45-game goalless streak March 17 with his third goal of the season. Sillinger has 11 points in 64 games after scoring 16 times and adding 15 assists as an 18-year-old rookie in 2021-22. Look for a rebound season in 2023-24, as he should regain some confidence playing in the AHL the rest of the way.

Sillinger was sent to the minors Friday morning in a paper move that made him eligible for the AHL playoffs. The 19-year-old has struggled this season, scoring twice while adding six assists in 55 games with the Blue Jackets. Should Cleveland make the AHL playoffs, Sillinger will gain valuable experience that should help his game in the future.

This is a paper move to make Sillinger eligible for the AHL playoffs as the Blue Jackets would love to get their center extra playing time after the NHL season ends in April. After an encouraging rookie season that saw him deliver 16 goals and 31 points in 79 games, Sillinger's sophomore slump has become a nightmare, and there's no light yet at the end of the tunnel. He hasn't found the back of the net in 23 straight contests, with his last goal coming Nov. 17, and he's managed only two assists and a minus-6 rating over that stretch. It's important to remember that the 12th overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft doesn't even turn 20 until mid-May, and in the long run his struggles this season could be nothing more than a valuable learning experience. For now though, Sillinger only has fantasy value in deeper dynasty formats.
