Dumais was selected in the third round, 96th overall, of the 2022 Draft. He has 16 goals and 47 points in 21 contests with QMJHL Halifax this season. Dumais is expected to attend training camp with the Blue Jackets in September, but he is likely to spend next season with AHL Cleveland.

  • Blue Jackets' Jordan Dumais: Needs surgery, out six weeks

Dumais will undergo lower abdominal surgery Friday. He's expected to need six weeks to recover.

Dumais has 16 goals and 47 points in 21 games with QMJHL Halifax this season. Columbus took him with the No. 96 overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft. Dumais might get a long look during Columbus' training camp for the 2024-25 campaign.

  • Blue Jackets' Jordan Dumais: Dealing with hip issue

Dumais will be evaluated for a hip problem by team doctors in Columbus, Aaron Portzline of The Athletic reports.

Dumais has been putting together a strong season with QMJHL Halifax, notching 16 goals and 31 assists in just 21 games for the Mooseheads. The 19-year-old winger was less productive at the World Junior Championship with Canada, garnering just one goal and one assist. The Montreal native's hip injury could bring his QMJHL campaign to a close but the Jackets will want to determine the next steps for their 2022 third-round pick.

  • Blue Jackets' Jordan Dumais: Explosive start to junior season

Dumais recorded a hat trick and added two assists Friday for QMJHL Halifax in a 6-4 win over Rouyn-Noranda, Aaron Portzline of The Athletic reports.

The 19-year-old winger has nothing left to prove in junior hockey after amassing 54 goals and 140 points in 64 games for Halifax last year. However, he's still too young for the AHL, and an upper-body injury late in Columbus' training camp ended his long-shot bid for a spot on the NHL roster. Dumais could get an opportunity to make his NHL debut after the QMJHL season is completed. Despite being undersized at 5-foot-9 and 174 pounds, the 2022 third-round pick has the hockey IQ and work ethic to potentially make his offensive skills translate well to the top level.
