The Stars called up Murray from AHL Texas on Saturday. Murray will be the Stars' emergency third goaltender in the playoffs, as Jake Oettinger and Scott Wedgewood are ahead of him on the depth chart. Murray shut out the Wild in his only NHL game this season, turning aside all 23 shots in a 4-0 win.... See More ... See Less

Stars' Matt Murray: Returned to AHL affiliate
Murray was reassigned to AHL Texas on Thursday. Murray's demotion suggests Scott Wedgewood (personal) may be ready to return against the Penguins on Friday. Murray will likely remain in the minors as long as Jake Oettinger and Wedgewood are both available.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Matt Murray: Up from minors
Murray was called up from AHL Texas on Wednesday, per Stars radio analyst Bruce LeVine. Murray will serve as the backup goaltender for Wednesday's home game versus Arizona because Scott Wedgewood (personal) is unavailable. Jake Oettinger is set to get the start. Murray has a 3.05 GAA and an .895 save percentage in 28 outings with Texas in 2023-24. He's also appeared in four career NHL contests, posting a 2-2-0 record, 2.53 GAA and .885 save percentage.... Stars' Matt Murray: Recalled by Dallas
Murray was promoted from AHL Texas on Tuesday, Stars radio analyst Bruce LeVine reports. Scott Wedgewood is considered day-to-day with a lower-body injury, so Murray will either start or serve as Jake Oettinger's backup Tuesday versus LA. Murray was excellent in his lone NHL appearance of the season Jan. 8 against the Wild, stopping all 23 shots he faced en route to a 4-0 victory.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Matt Murray: Back in minors
Murray was returned to AHL Texas on Thursday. Murray has been up and down frequently of late -- the Stars have been saving valuable cap space when they are not in action. Murray has been up with the big club to serve as the backup with Jake Oettinger, unavailable -- he's been out of action for four weeks with a lower-body injury. Murray picked up a shutout Monday, stopping 23 shots in a 4-0 win over Minnesota, his first NHL game of the season. If Oettinger remains unavailable, look for Murray to return to the NHL roster Friday as the Stars face Nashville.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Matt Murray: Summoned Wednesday
Murray was recalled from AHL Texas on Wednesday, according to Stars' radio analyst Bruce LeVine. Murray was reassigned to Texas on Tuesday, but that was apparently just a cap move. His return to Dallas suggests Jake Oettinger (lower body) won't be available for Wednesday's home game versus Minnesota. Murray made his NHL season debut Monday, posting a 23-save shutout versus the Wild.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Matt Murray: Earns first shutout
Murray stopped all 23 shots he faced in Monday's 4-0 win over the Wild. This was Murray's fourth NHL appearance, his second win and his first shutout. The Stars played a strong game in front of him to make it easier for the 25-year-old, who hadn't seen any game action in over three weeks. He's mainly backed up Scott Wedgewood while Jake Oettinger (lower body) has been working his way back from an injury, but with Oettinger getting close, Murray's time in the NHL for this stint is likely soon to be over.... Stars' Matt Murray: Recalled from AHL
Murray was brought up from AHL Texas on Monday. The Stars had Joe O'Brien, who agreed to an amateur tryout agreement with the team, serve as Scott Wedgewood's backup in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to St. Louis. O'Brien was released Sunday, so Dallas was able to add Murray under the roster emergency exception rule ahead of Monday's matchup against Seattle. Murray has posted a 1-2-0 record with a 3.39 GAA and an .844 save percentage in three NHL starts with the Stars last season. His presence with the big club probably means that Jake Oettinger (lower body) isn't ready to return yet.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Matt Murray: Returns to AHL
Murray was loaned to AHL Texas on Sunday. In a corresponding move, Scott Wedgewood (lower body) was recalled from his conditioning loan. Murray has recorded one win in three NHL appearances this season.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Matt Murray: Slated to start Saturday
Murray is expected to start at home versus Vancouver on Saturday, according to Bruce LeVine of Dallas Hockey Now. Murray, who was recalled from AHL Texas on Friday, stopped just 14 of 19 shots in a 5-2 loss to the Canucks on March 14, so this is a chance for him to get revenge. At the AHL level, he's posted a 2.27 GAA and a .913 save percentage in 31 contests with Texas this season. Vancouver has the 11th-ranked offense with 3.35 goals per game in 2022-23.... See More ...
