  • Vikings' Jordan Hicks: Restructures contract with Vikings

Hicks agreed to a restructured contract Monday, Andrew Krammer of the Minneapolis Star-Trubune reports.

Hicks was scheduled to count $6.5 million against the Vikings' cap in 2023, but he's converted a portion of his salary into a bonus to create room for Minnesota. The 30-year-old started all 17 games for the Vikings last season, recording 129 tackles and three sacks on 81 percent of the defensive snaps.

  • Vikings' Jordan Hicks: Big stats in first year with Vikes

Hicks accumulated 128 tackles (86 solo), including three sacks, as well as 10 passes defended and an interception over 17 games in 2022.

Hicks played his fewest defensive snaps (897) of the last four seasons, though he still finished with his second-most tackles of any season during this span. He served as the team's No. 2 off-ball linebacker and second-leading tackler behind Eric Kendricks (137) in this duo's first season together. Hicks also logged double-digit passes defended for just the second time in his career. The 30-year-old does have a potential out in 2023 heading into the second year of his contract with Minnesota, though he should continue to fulfill a prominent role if he's retained by the team this offseason.

Hicks recorded 10 tackles (five solo) and one pass defensed in Saturday's 27-24 win over the Giants.

Saturday's matchup versus New York accounted for Hicks' first double-digit tackling performance since he logged 12 stops against Washington back in Week 9. The veteran is in line to continue starting at linebacker when Minnesota travels across the border to Green Bay on New Year's Day.

  • Vikings' Jordan Hicks: Gains clearance for Week 15

Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell said Hicks (ankle) won't have an injury designation for Saturday's game against the Colts, Kevin Seifert of reports.

Hicks was listed as a non-participant on the Vikings' initial Week 15 injury report released Tuesday, but he bumped up to limited participation Wednesday and then full activity Thursday to clear up any lingering concern about his availability. The 30-year-old linebacker has been a high-end IDP option this season, tallying 105 tackles, nine pass breakups, three sacks, one interception and a forced fumble through 13 appearances.

  • Vikings' Jordan Hicks: Set to undergo MRI

Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell said that Hicks will undergo an MRI after he was forced out with a toe injury during Sunday's 34-23 loss to the Lions, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Hicks was deemed questionable to return coming out of halftime, though he was ultimately able to come back in and record five tackles and one pass defended during the second half. However, the 30-year-old said postgame that he actually injured the bottom of his foot and that he "feels fine right now," according to Tomasson. Either way, this impending MRI should provide more clarity on his health heading into the Vikings' Week 15 contest against Indianapolis on Saturday. Hicks recorded 97 tackles, three sacks and eight passes defended while playing the vast majority of defensive snaps heading into Week 14, so his absence would be a significant loss for Minnesota's defense.

The ninth-year linebacker has recorded eight more stops than Minnesota's second-leading tackler Eric Kendricks so far in 2022. Hicks is also on track to log over 115 tackles for the fourth season in a row, and he'll look to keep this prolific run going against Buffalo this coming Sunday.
