  • Chris Blewitt: Waived by Cleveland

The Browns have waived Blewitt, Dan Labbe of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

The same applies to Chase McLaughlin, with the Browns having selected Cade York with the 124th overall pick in the recently completed NFL Draft. In two appearances last season with Washington, Blewitt made two of five field-goal attempts and both of his extra-point tries.

  • Browns' Chris Blewitt: Off COVID list, signs futures deal

Cleveland signed Blewitt (undisclosed) to a reserve/future contract after restoring him to the practice squad from the practice squad COVID-19 list Tuesday.

Blewitt was signed to the Browns' practice squad at the end of December after their starting kicker, Chase McLaughlin, was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list. However, Blewitt never made an appearance for Cleveland and eventually landed in protocols himself. He appeared in two contests this season -- both with Washington -- and connected on two of five field-goal attempts (two were blocked) and both of his extra-point tries.

  • Chris Blewitt: Placed on COVID-19 list

The Browns placed Blewitt (undisclosed) on the practice squad COVID-19 list Thursday.

Blewitt joined the Browns' practice squad last week, but he'll now be forced to isolate from the team. Whether he's tested positive for COVID-19 remains to be seen, but it seems likely that he'll be sidelined for the remainder of the regular season.

  • Chris Blewitt: Joins Browns' practice squad

Cleveland signed Blewitt to the practice squad Wednesday.

With Chase McLaughlin on the reserve/COVID-19 list, Blewitt is being brought in as another insurance option at kicker along with current practice squad member Chris Naggar. Blewitt appeared in two games earlier this season for Washington but made only two of five field-goal attempts.

  • Chris Blewitt: Time up in Washington

    Washington waived Blewitt on Tuesday.

Signed Week 7 replace Dustin Hopkins as the Football Team's kicker, Blewitt's stint in D.C. lasted just two games. He converted on only two of five field-goal attempts -- two of which were blocked -- and went 2-for-2 on extra-point attempts. Even though one of his conversions was from 52 yards out, Blewitt didn't do enough to keep his job coming out of Washington's Week 9 bye. The Football Team signed Joey Slye to take over as their kicker heading into Sunday's game against Tampa Bay.

  • Football Team's Chris Blewitt: Has two kicks blocked

Blewitt went 1-for-3 on field-goal attempts and made his only extra-point try during Sunday's 17-10 loss to the Broncos.

After an 11-play drive in the second quarter, Blewitt's 45-yard field-goal attempt was blocked. He was able to regain his composure to sink a 52-yarder on the Football Team's next drive, but he had another kick blocked in the fourth quarter with the game tied at 10. Washington has now allowed three blocked kicks in the past two games. It's hard to place all of the blame on the 26-year-old, but he will likely be on the hot seat if this trend continues. Washington was quick to move on from the veteran Dustin Hopkins, so it'll be interesting to see how much leash they give Blewitt.

  • Football Team's Chris Blewitt: One make, one miss in loss

Blewitt converted one of two field-goal attempts in Sunday's 24-10 loss to the Packers.

Blewitt made a PAT after Washington scored its only touchdown in the first quarter, but he blew it on his first field-goal attempt, as his 42-yard try was blocked. While he bounced back by converting a 45-yard attempt late in the fourth, the game was well out of reach by that point. Blewitt should continue to kick for Washington in the kicker-friendly conditions of Denver in Week 8, but his seat could get hot quickly if he misses any more field goals.

  • Football Team's Chris Blewitt: New kicker for WFT

Washington signed Blewitt off its practice squad Wednesday.

The 26-year-old is poised to see his first NFL action Sunday in Green Bay, where he'll be taking over as the Football Team's kicker after Washington released veteran Dustin Hopkins in a corresponding move. Since going undrafted out of Pittsburgh in 2019, Blewitt has spent time in the Bears' organization in addition to Washington, who signed him to its practice squad earlier this month. He should make for a low-end fantasy option while he remains Washington's kicker.

  • Chris Blewitt: Cut from practice squad

Washington cut Blewitt from the practice squad Wednesday.

The Football Team let Blewitt go in order to ink safety Cole Luke to the practice squad. Since going undrafted back in 2017, Blewitt still hasn't earned an opportunity to make his first NFL field-goal attempt.

  • Chris Blewitt: Joins Washington's practice squad

Washington signed Blewitt to their practice squad Tuesday, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.

Blewitt went undrafted in 2017, but he latched on with the Bears in 2019. However, he never made it to the active roster and is still looking for his NFL debut. Dustin Hopkins missed two extra points Sunday, so Blewitt will provide some insurance for Washington if the 31-year-old continues to struggle.
