Steelers' Jayrone Elliott: Signs with Steelers
Elliott signed a contract with the Steelers' 53-man roster Saturday, Teresa Varley of the team's official site reports.
Elliott has been elevated to the Steelers' active roster twice already, and now he's received a contract to remain part of the team moving forward. He's only played on special teams thus far, and that should remain the extent of his role barring an injury higher on the depth chart.

Pittsburgh re-signed Elliott on Thursday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Elliott, who worked out for the Steelers earlier this week, played a reserve role with the team in five contests last season. If he manages to make the team, he'll likely primarily contribute on special teams in 2020.

Elliott was with the Steelers for just over the final week of preseason action, at which point he was released Aug. 31. With T.J. Watt sustaining a back injury in Sunday's loss to the Patriots, Pittsburgh may be looking for insurance or depth at linebacker by signing Elliott.

Elliott signed a reserve/future contract with the Saints on Wednesday, Herbie Teope of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
New Orleans tried to sign Elliott to a contract a couple weeks ago but didn't have a roster spot open to do so and, consequently, the NFL disapproved the signing. However, the team has since cleared space on the roster and Elliott is now officially a member of the Saints. The four-year veteran didn't appear in a regular-season game during the 2017 season but accrued 58 tackles, four sacks and one interception over 38 games for the Packers from 2014 through 2016 while primarily serving in a special-teams role.

The NFL disapproved the reserve/future contract between Elliott and the Saints on Monday, The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Elliott signed the reserve/future contract Jan. 26, but the lack of an open spot on the 53-man roster allowed the NFL to disapprove the contract. The 26-year-old reverts to free agency and is once again free to sign elsewhere.

The move likely was made in order to make room for the return of Damontre Moore (suspension) to the active roster. The Cowboys traded with the Packers for Elliott at the start of the regular season and he was serving as a depth option at linebacker.
