Bengals' Tanner Hudson: Signs future deal
The Bengals signed Hudson to a reserve/future contract Tuesday.
Hudson joined the Bengals' practice squad at the beginning of December after being waived by the Giants. He made 11 straight appearances for New York to start the season, totaling 10 receptions on 15 targets for 132 yards across 244 offensive snaps, but he was never elevated to Cincinnati's active roster. With his new contract, the fourth-year tight end will get to stick around the Bengals' organization and compete for a roster spot next season.

In a corresponding move, Nick Vannett was signed to the active roster. Hudson was in the midst of a season during which he posted career highs in targets, receptions and receiving yards, but he'll now become an unrestricted free agent, assuming he isn't claimed by another team during the current waiver period.

Hudson turned his lone target into a 10-yard reception in Thursday's 28-20 loss to the Cowboys.
Hudson played 12 of the Giants' 59 snaps on offense while working as part of a three-man rotation at tight end that included Lawrence Cager and Chris Myarick. All three players are candidates to see their roles reduced in the Giants' Week 13 contest against the Commanders, as head coach Brian Daboll said Tuesday that he's optimistic Daniel Bellinger (eye) will be able to return to the lineup, according to Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record. Giants' Tanner Hudson: Modest production in win
Hudson caught all three of his targets for 24 yards Sunday in a 24-16 victory against Houston.
Hudson tied for the team lead with three catches and finished third with 24 receiving yards in the victory. The Giants continue to take a run-first approach, as Daniel Jones attempted only 17 passes, and his 13 completions were spread fairly evenly among six different pass catchers. Five of Hudson's eight catches this season have come in New York's past two games, but his role may be reduced in Week 11 if Daniel Bellinger (eye) is able to return.

Hudson landed on the injury report Thursday as a non-participant due to an illness and didn't practice Friday. However, he appears to have cleared the aliment and will be good to go Sunday. Hudson was not listed with any issues on the Giants' practice report Wednesday, and the exact nature and severity of this illness are still unknown. The backup tight end has caught three of his five targets for 40 yards through the first five games of the season, though he's played an increased percentage of the Giants' offensive snaps over the past two weeks, with 61 percent against Chicago and 45 percent against Green Bay. Hudson recorded two receptions for 23 yards on three targets in Sunday's 19-16 win over the Panthers.
The pair of receptions were Hudson's first since the 2020 campaign, when he recorded a 3-41-0 receiving line on seven targets over 11 games for the Buccaneers. Rookie Daniel Bellinger remains the Giants' top tight end, but with snap shares barely north of 50 percent in both of his first two games, he's not necessarily entrenched atop the depth chart. Even if Hudson ends up poaching more snaps from Bellinger, the 27-year-old is still expected to primarily serve as a blocker whenever he's on the field.
