  • Ravens' L.J. Fort: Suffers torn ACL

Fort suffered a torn ACL during Saturday's preseason contest against the Panthers, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports. While it was a clean tear, Fort's season will still likely be over after he undergoes surgery. The nine-year veteran notched a career-high 54 tackles in 14 games with the Ravens last year. In his absence, Malik Harrison and Chris Board will compete for the backup linebacker spot behind Patrick Queen.

Fort was held out of Wednesday's practice with an apparent ankle injury, Teresa Varley of the team's official site reports. Fort allegedly sustained the ankle injury during Sunday's win over the Falcons. His absence during Wednesday's session raises real concerns regarding his status for Sunday. More certainty pertaining to his availability should become apparent as Sunday inches closer. If he can't play, Matthew Thomas could be asked to play a bigger role for the divisional tilt.

  • Steelers' L.J. Fort: Scores first career touchdown

Fort totaled six tackles (all solo) including a sack and recovered a fumble for a touchdown during Sunday's 41-17 win over the Falcons. With Vince Williams (hamstring) inactive, the seldom-used Fort took advantage of an increase in playing time and recorded his most tackles in a game since October 2012. The sack was his first of the season, and his recovery of Matt Ryan's fumble in the end zone was his first career touchdown. If Williams can't go in Week 6, Fort will get another opportunity when they visit the Bengals, whom they have beaten the last five meetings.
