Hathaway signed a two-year, $4.75 million contract with the Flyers on Saturday. Hathaway has established himself as a reliable fourth-liner in the NHL. The 31-year-old racked up 13 goals and nine assists over 84 contests between the Capitals and the Bruins last season while also tallying 268 hits, ranking eighth in the league in the category. He should be a consistent presence in the Flyers' lineup to provide grit, but he won't chip in much offense.... See More ... See Less

Bruins' Garnet Hathaway: Snags helper in win
Hathaway registered one assist and eight hits in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Panthers. Hathaway notched his first point of the playoffs, while he's also garnered 18 hits, 10 PIM and eight blocks. Considering the winger has just two shots on goal, fantasy players probably shouldn't be banking on him providing much in the way of offensive production.... See More ... See Less -
Bruins' Garnet Hathaway: Pots game-winner Saturday
Hathaway scored the game-winning goal in Saturday's 3-2 victory over Detroit. With the score tied 2-2 midway through the third period, Hathaway pounced on a rebound and banged home his 10th goal of the year and first in seven games since joining the Bruins ahead of the trade deadline. The 31-year-old grinder has a knack for timely tallies -- of his 50 goals over the past five seasons, an impressive 12 have been game-winners. Most of Hathaway's fantasy value comes from his physical play, however, and five more hits Saturday brought him up to 215 on the season, ranking eighth in the league.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Garnet Hathaway: Scratched for trade reasons
Hathaway will be a healthy scratch for Thursday's game against Anaheim for trade-related reasons. Hathaway has nine goals and 16 points in 59 contests in 2022-23 while averaging 12:06 of ice time. He's in the final season of a four-year, $6 million contract and is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent this summer, so if the Capitals are looking to be sellers at the deadline, then it would make sense for them to shop him. With Hathaway out of the lineup, Nicolas Aube-Kubel, who was a healthy scratch Tuesday, might play against the Ducks.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Garnet Hathaway: Scores in win
Hathaway scored a goal on three shots in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime victory over the Blue Jackets. Hathaway opened the scoring five minutes into the first period on Tuesday, deflecting a Lars Eller shot past Joonas Korpisalo. The goal snapped a six-game scoring drought for Hathaway. The 31-year-old winger has eight goals, seven assists, and 182 hits while playing a bottom-six role in Washington.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Garnet Hathaway: Sparks comeback push
Hathaway scored a goal on three shots, added four hits and blocked two shots in Monday's 4-3 overtime win over the Islanders. One second after the game's midpoint, Hathaway scored to get the Capitals on the board. They'd add three more goals, including Dmitry Orlov's overtime tally to erase what had been a three-goal deficit. It's been a productive stretch for Hathaway lately -- he has four goals, one assist and 18 hits over his last eight contests. For the season, the fourth-line winger is up to seven tallies, seven helpers, 54 shots, 152 hits, 46 PIM and 50 blocked shots through 46 appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Garnet Hathaway: Scores in win
Hathaway tallied a goal on his lone shot in Thursday's 6-2 win over the Blue Jackets. Following a net-front scramble, Hathaway beat a sprawling Elvis Merzlikins with a wrist shot to extend Washington's lead to 4-2 late in the second period. The 31-year-old Hathaway now has three points (two goals and an assist) in his last four contests. While he won't keep up this scoring pace in a fourth-line role, Hathaway has been productive while providing a physical presence for the Capitals with five goals, six assists, and 139 hits.... Capitals' Garnet Hathaway: Bags apple Thursday
Hathaway tallied an assist and dished out seven hits during Thursday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Senators. Hathaway has managed five points over his last eight games -- along with a very healthy 28 hits. The 31-year-old continues to be a valuable role player on the fourth line with Alexei Protas and Nic Dowd, but his fantasy value remains largely confined to deeper leagues that reward his prowess as a hitter (134).... Capitals' Garnet Hathaway: Rare two-point effort
Hathaway produced a pair of assists and went plus-2 in Tuesday's 7-3 win over the Blackhawks. Hathaway helped out on goals by Nic Dowd and Dmitry Orlov in the contest. This was Hathaway's second multi-point game this season, and it snapped a six-game point drought for the fourth-line winger. He's up to two goals, four assists, 33 shots on net, 107 hits, 36 blocked shots, 35 PIM and a plus-3 rating through 31 outings.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Garnet Hathaway: Secures assist
Hathaway notched an assist, two hits, two blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Canucks. Hathaway ended his personal six-game point drought with a helper on a John Carlson goal in the second period. The 31-year-old winger is more sandpaper than scoring threat -- he has four points, 90 hits, 35 PIM, 28 blocked shots, 25 shots on goal and a minus-1 rating through 24 contests. He can help in deep fantasy formats that reward grit, but his career high in points is 26 in 76 outings last year, which is the anomaly in his playing history.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Garnet Hathaway: Caps Sunday's scoring
Hathaway scored a late goal during Sunday's 6-3 loss to the quick-starting Lightning. By the time Hathaway scored his second goal of the season Sunday, the Lightning -- who scored four times in the first -- were cruising to the home win. Down 6-2 with less than three minutes to play, the 30-year-old right winger kept grinding, converting from the slot area with 2:02 to go. It was his first goal in 10 outings.... See More ... Capitals' Garnet Hathaway: Fined for unsportsmanlike conduct
Hathaway was fined $4,054.05 for unsportsmanlike conduct Saturday from an incident in Friday's game against Tampa Bay. Hathaway received five minutes for fighting and a 10-minute misconduct at the 1:56 mark of the second period. He dropped the gloves with Patrick Maroon after Capitals forward Nicolas Aube-Kubel delivered a hit to the head on Lightning blueliner Cal Foote. Aube-Kubel will face a hearing Saturday, but Hathaway's wallet is just a little lighter stemming from the incident.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Garnet Hathaway: Two points against Devils
Hathaway scored a goal and an assist in Monday's 6-3 win over the Devils. He helped set up Nic Dowd midway through the first period to get the Capitals on the board before Hathaway grabbed a loose puck in the New Jersey zone in the second and gave his squad a 2-1 lead. The points were the first of the season for the fourth-line grinder, but with four more hits Monday, he already has 24 through seven games after he racked up a career-high 250 in 2021-22.... Capitals' Garnet Hathaway: Offers helper Friday
Hathaway recorded an assist, two shots on goal and seven hits in Friday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Panthers in Game 6. Hathaway set up Nic Dowd on the opening tally 3:44 into the second period. In the playoffs, Hathaway had two points, 36 hits, eight shots on net, 16 PIM and a minus-6 rating through six contests. The 30-year-old will be in the last year of his contract next season as he looks to build on his 26-point, 250-hit effort from 76 regular-season contests in 2021-22.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Garnet Hathaway: Scores goal in victory
Hathaway scored a goal and registered five hits in Monday's 3-2 win over the Avalanche. Hathaway opened the scoring four minutes into the game, ripping a shot past Darcy Kuemper after stealing the puck in the neutral zone. The 30-year-old winger now has a goal in consecutive games, and three in his last four contests -- an impressive stretch for a fourth-line line winger. Hathaway now has a career-high 14 goals and sits top 10 in the league with 232 hits.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Garnet Hathaway: Back at practice
Hathaway (illness) returned to practice Friday, JJ Regan of NBC Sports Washington reports. Hathaway missed Wednesday's game versus the Lightning due to an illness, but he should be an option for Saturday's matchup with Pittsburgh. He's picked up 22 points and 212 hits through 64 contests this campaign.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Garnet Hathaway: Unavailable Wednesday
Hathaway (illness) won't play Wednesday versus the Lightning. Hathaway has recorded a career-high 22 points in 64 contests this season. Axel Jonsson-Fjallby or Connor McMichael will likely draw into the lineup in a bottom-six role for Wednesday's contest. Hathaway will look to return Saturday versus the Penguins.... See More ... Capitals' Garnet Hathaway: Deflects in only goal in loss
Hathaway scored a goal and added four hits in Sunday's 5-1 loss to the Wild. Hathaway deflected an Alex Ovechkin shot off his skate and through the pads of Cam Talbot to keep the Capitals from getting shut out. The goal was Hathaway's first since a two-goal game Feb. 17, and he had just two assists in the 16 contests in between. The fourth-liner is at 11 tallies -- matching his career high -- with 11 assists, 105 shots on net, 212 hits, 51 PIM and a plus-19 rating in 64 appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Garnet Hathaway: Efficient producer on fourth line
Hathaway garnered an assist in Friday's 4-3 shootout win over the Hurricanes. Hathaway performs better than a typical fourth-line winger, as he's collected 10 goals, 11 assists and a plus-19 rating. The American has managed to stay healthy outside of missing five games in early December while in COVID-19 protocols. We're talking about a player who starts his shifts in the defensive zone over 70 percent of the time, making his rate of offensive production all the more impressive. Oh, and he has 191 hits to boot.... See More ... See Less -
Capitals' Garnet Hathaway: Pots tying, winning goals late
Hathaway had two goals and an assist in Thursday's 5-3 win over Philadelphia. Hathaway single-handedly won this one for Washington down the stretch, as scored with 2:57 remaining in the third period and again with 1:12 to go, turning a 3-2 deficit into a 4-3 lead. He also assisted on Michal Kempny's goal in the opening frame. The physical winger has tied his 2018-19 career high with 19 points.... See More ... See Less
