Saints' Kirk Merritt: Moved back up to active roster
The Saints have signed Merritt from their practice squad ahead of Saturday's game against the Browns.
Merritt was promoted to the active roster for each of the last two games, though he did not record a catch while playing just nine of his 35 snaps on offense during this span. The 25-year-old could be in line for increased playing time versus Atlanta after veteran wideout Jarvis Landry (ankle) was placed on injured reserve Thursday. With Chris Olave (hamstring) also ruled out for Week 16, expect Merritt to slot in as New Orleans' No. 4 wideout behind Rashid Shaheed, Tre'Quan Smith and Marquez Callaway on Saturday.

Merritt caught one of three targets for 13 yards Sunday in the Dolphins' 17-9 win over the Texans. He reverted to the Dolphins' practice squad following the game.
After being elevated from the practice squad prior to the contest, Merritt saw his first action of the season Sunday. The 24-year-old wideout played on just 11 of the team's 75 offensive snaps, but he was still highly involved during his minimal time on the field. He could have had a shot at an even bigger day if not for Jacoby Brissett slightly underthrowing a deep ball that Merritt couldn't reel in. With Will Fuller (finger) likely to remain on injured reserve Week 10 along with fellow receiver DeVante Parker (shoulder), Merritt could be called up from the practice squad again ahead of Thursday's game against the Ravens.
