  • Buccaneers' Jalen McMillan: Tampa adds third-round wideout

The Buccaneers selected McMillan in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 92nd overall.

McMillan might not have as much hype as former Washington teammate Rome Odunze or even Ja'Lynn Polk, but McMillan was about as productive as Odunze and was more productive than Polk prior to McMillan missing roughly two months with a knee injury in 2023. In other words, if McMillan never got hurt, then Polk might not have been drafted ahead of the former. McMillan (6-foot-1, 197 pounds) demonstrated his skill set by producing alongside the likes of Odunze and Polk in college, and his solid combine performance proved the NFL viability of his athleticism (4.47-second 40, 37-inch vertical). Trey Palmer should not be in the WR3 role much longer for Tampa.

  • Buccaneers' Tykee Smith: Tampa Bay bound

The Buccaneers selected Smith in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 89th overall.

Smith took a circuitous route to draft night. After starring at West Virginia early in his career with All-American accolades, Smith transferred to Georgia, where he had a brutal stretch of injury luck. A foot injury kept him out to start 2021, and then he suffered a torn ACL. After playing a rotational role in 2022, Smith secured a starting job at nickel in 2023 and got himself back on the NFL radar. Physicality is the name of his game, as he got in on 70 tackles as a fifth-year senior and showed coverage chops with four picks. He tested well at the combine, and if the injury woes are truly behind him, Smith is an asset at nickel or safety.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Braswell: Nabbed by Bucs

The Buccaneers selected Braswell in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 57th overall.

Braswell is the latest Alabama defender to make it to the league. He is the fifth Crimson Tide player selected thus far. Braswell is an edge rusher who collected 8.0 sacks and 10.5 total tackles for loss as a senior. He can scream off the edge with 4.6 speed. Braswell lacks length (33.25-inch arms at 6-foot-3, 251 pounds), however, so bigger and more powerful offensive tackles could be a challenge for him at the next level. Still, he's a bendy and quick edge that was coached well in college and knows how to find the ball and make plays in the backfield. Given that Braswell is at his best in a two-point stance, he projects to challenge 2021 first-rounder Joe Tryon-Shoyinka for reps at outside linebacker.

  • Buccaneers' Graham Barton: Snagged by Tampa at 26th overall

The Buccaneers selected Barton in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 26th overall.

Barton was an excellent left tackle at Duke but will likely play guard or center for the Buccaneers. Barton (6-foot-5, 313 pounds) has a close to maximum skills grade and supplements that with excellent athletic metrics (4.97-second 40, 7.31-second three-cone drill). Barton isn't a mauler like some of the other standout linemen in this class, but because of his technical proficiency and excellent movement he's able to seize land as a blocker even if he does it more by finesse than brute strength.
