  • Broncos' Russell Wilson: Recovering from knee procedure

Wilson, who is recovering from arthroscopic surgery on his right knee that he underwent after the end of the 2022 season, is expected to be healthy for OTAs, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Wilson is reportedly already working out and throwing following his knee procedure, so he doesn't seem to be carrying any lingering health concerns heading into the offseason program. The Broncos are hoping that new head coach Sean Payton will be able to facilitate a bounce-back season from Wilson in 2023, after the nine-time Pro Bowler finished with just 3,524 passing yards and a 16:11 TD:INT over 15 games during his first year in Denver.

  • Broncos' Russell Wilson: Positive end to poor season

Wilson completed 13 of 24 passes for 283 yards with three touchdowns and one interception and rushed eight times for 18 yards in the Broncos' 31-28 in over the Chargers on Sunday. Wilson's efficiency was off the charts in terms of completion-to-yardage ratio, the product of averaging 11.8 yards per attempt. The veteran signal-caller's touchdown passes went to the unorthodox trio of Eric Tomlinson (three yards), Tyler Badie (24 yards) and Courtland Sutton (20 yards), but he still took a pair of sacks and struggled with his accuracy. Wilson has already vowed to do a top-to-bottom evaluation of his offseason preparation in order to put together an exponentially better 2023, and rumblings that offensive guru Sean Payton will be discussing the team's head coaching job with Broncos brass gives the multi-time Pro Bowler's outlook a potential boost for the time being.

  • Broncos' Russell Wilson: QBs to Sit

Maybe Nathaniel Hackett's departure is just what Wilson and the Broncos needed. Or maybe Wilson just likes facing the Chiefs. In the first game for Denver without Hackett in Week 17 at Kansas City, the Broncos nearly pulled off an upset in a 27-24 loss, and Wilson had 24 Fantasy points. Now, he also scored 30 Fantasy points against Kansas City in Week 14, so it could be the matchup, but let's give Wilson a little credit. However, I would look to sit Wilson in Week 18 against the Chargers. Wilson only scored 15 Fantasy points against the Chargers in Week 6, and this defense has held Tua Tagovailoa, Ryan Tannehill, Nick Foles and Baker Mayfield to a combined 26 Fantasy points over the past four games.

  • Broncos' Russell Wilson: Three total touchdowns in loss

Wilson completed 26 of 38 pass attempts for 222 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Chiefs. He added 27 rushing yards and two touchdowns on four attempts. After a disastrous Week 16, Wilson bounced back with his second solid fantasy performance against Kansas City this season. Prior to Sunday, the veteran rushed for just one touchdown all season. Wilson's mobility has always been a major part of his game, so the use of his legs to find the end zone was certainly a welcome sight. With that said, the Broncos have a lot to figure out on offense ahead of next season with Wilson at the helm. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Wilson plans to examine his preparation and offseason routine to avoid having another disappointing season. If the 34-year-old signal caller can stack this outing with another strong fantasy performance in Week 18 against the Chargers, it may give fantasy managers a glimmer of hope for Wilson to have a possible resurgence next season.

  • Broncos' Russell Wilson: Still in team's long-term plan

Broncos CEO Greg Penner said Tuesday that Wilson is still central to the team's long-term plan and is expected to rebuond in 2023, Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com reports. The in-season firing of first-year head coach Nathaniel Hackett earlier this week led to speculation that Wilson could be the next be the next big name headed out of Denver, even though he signed a five-year, $245 million extension in early September. The more likely scenario is one where Wilson finishes out the final two weeks of the season under interim coach Jerry Rosburg before getting a fresh start in the offseason with a new coaching staff. Rosburg confirmed Wednesday that Wilson will start Sunday's game against the Chiefs, according to Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site.

  • Broncos' Russell Wilson: Woes continue with three picks

Wilson completed 15 of 27 pass attempts for 214 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions in Sunday's 51-14 blowout loss to the Rams. He added 17 rushing yards on two attempts. Wilson returned from a one-game layoff due to a concussion, but his fantasy managers are probably wishing he sat this one out based on the poor results. The 34-year-old showed some signs of life in his last start against the Chiefs when he threw three touchdowns for the first time this year, but he followed that up with his first three-interception game in this horrid loss. Wilson was pulled for Brett Rypien late in the contest, but the backup didn't fare much better (4/8, 45 yards, INT) than the player he replaced. Assuming the Broncos stick with their $245 million quarterback in Week 17, Wilson will try to recapture the success he experienced against the Chiefs in Week 14 when the two clubs meet Jan. 1.

  • Broncos' Russell Wilson: Not listed on injury report

Wilson (concussion) isn't listed on the Week 16 injury report ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Rams. Wilson cleared the concussion protocol last week but was held out of an eventual win over the Cardinals anyway. Now that he's further removed from the head injury, Wilson will return to the starting job, as confirmed by head coach Nathaniel Hackett on Wednesday.

  • Broncos' Russell Wilson: Week 16 Waiver Priority List

Wilson is expected to play after missing Week 15 with a concussion, and hopefully he can pick up where he left off prior to getting hurt in Week 14. Against the Chiefs in Week 14, Wilson had 30 Fantasy points and finally -- finally -- looked like the Wilson we hoped to see all season with 247 passing yards, three touchdowns and one interception, along with 57 rushing yards. He has a tough matchup in Week 16 at the Rams, but three quarterbacks in the past five games against Los Angeles have scored at least 19 Fantasy points. Courtland Sutton (hamstring) could also return this week to enhance Denver's receiving corps, and Wilson could be a low-end starter in deeper leagues if he plays as expected.

  • Broncos' Russell Wilson: Won't play this week

Wilson (concussion) won't play Sunday against the Cardinals, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports. The report relays that Wilson has progressed through the NFL's concussion protocol, but coach Nathaniel Hackett noted Friday that "as an organization, we've decided to give him another week." As a result, Brett Rypien will draw the start at QB for the Broncos this weekend, while Wilson will target a return to action Week 16 against the Rams.

  • Broncos' Russell Wilson: Not practicing

Wilson (concussion) won't practice Wednesday, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports. Neither will wideout Courtland Sutton, who missed Sunday's loss to the Chiefs with a hamstring injury, per Troy Renck of Denver 7 News. Renck also notes that Wilson is doing some form of physical activity, which suggests he's making progress in the five-step concussion protocol even if he isn't ready to practice. The Broncos will turn to Brett Rypien under center if Wilson isn't ready for Sunday's matchup with Arizona.

  • Broncos' Russell Wilson: Tests confirm concussion

Wilson has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's game against the Chiefs due to a concussion, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Wilson stayed down with a glazed look in his eyes after taking a big hit. He got up and went into the blue medical tent, then subsequently the locker room for concussion testing while sporting a noticeable welt on his forehead. The testing confirmed a concussion, so Brett Rypien will lead Denver's offense the rest of the way Sunday. Wilson will need to clear the NFL's five-step concussion protocol to suit up against the Cardinals in Week 15.

  • Broncos' Russell Wilson: Being evaluated for concussion

Wilson left Sunday's contest versus the Chiefs after hitting his head hard on the turf at the end of a scramble in the fourth quarter, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports. Wilson remained on the ground for a spell before slowly making his way to the sideline tent and eventually the locker room, per Nick Kosmider of The Athletic. The Broncos announced shortly thereafter that Wilson was being evaluated for a concussion, which, if confirmed, will end his Week 14 with 247 yards, three touchdowns and one interception on 23-for-36 passing and four carries for 57 yards.

  • Broncos' Russell Wilson: Underwhelming in latest loss

Wilson completed 17 of 22 passes for 189 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions in the Broncos' 10-9 loss to the Ravens on Sunday. He also rushed twice for 21 yards. Wilson's tough first season in Denver continued in trademark fashion Sunday, with the Broncos blowing a late lead despite the Ravens losing Lamar Jackson to a knee injury early and both Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy available to open the game. However, Sutton eventually exited with a hamstring injury, once again leaving Wilson with a makeshift receiving corps against a tough defense. Consequently, points were once again at a premium, and Tyler Huntley was ultimately able to help lead Baltimore to a game-winning touchdown on a marathon 16-play drive. Wilson was able to get the Broncos into position to attempt a 63-yard field goal with two seconds remaining, but that attempt came up short. Factoring in Sutton's injury, Wilson will head into a Week 14 home matchup against the Chiefs likely undermanned significantly at receiver once again.

  • Broncos' Russell Wilson: Struggles continue in Week 12 loss

Wilson completed 19 of 35 passes for 142 yards and one touchdown in Sunday's 23-10 loss to the Panthers. He added eight yards on two rushing attempts and lost a fumble. Wilson's struggles continued in the first half, as he threw for only 53 yards and fumbled just outside the red zone en route to a 10-3 halftime deficit. Things didn't get much better after halftime outside of a one-yard touchdown pass to rookie Brandon Johnson late in the fourth. Wilson's underwhelming play is the primary reason for Denver's ugly 3-8 record heading into a Week 13 trip to Baltimore.

  • Broncos' Russell Wilson: Sit 'Em

I thought Wilson would do well last week against the Raiders because of the matchup. I was wrong. Wilson was a Fantasy disaster again, scoring just nine points in overtime, and he now has five games in a row with 15 points or less. He also has scored more than 19 Fantasy points just once this season, which was against the Raiders in Week 4. Denver's offensive line is a mess -- Wilson has been sacked at least three times in eight games in a row and 32 times for the season -- and Jerry Jeudy (ankle) could still be out. Wilson is a questionable starter in Superflex and two-quarterback leagues this week.

  • Broncos' Russell Wilson: Efficient in loss

Wilson completed 24 of 31 passes for 247 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's 22-16 loss to the Raiders. He added one rush for eight yards. Wilson has produced varying degrees of efficiency this season, though he put together a strong performance in that regard by averaging 8.0 yards per attempt. However, his fantasy production remained uninspiring due to his lack of touchdowns, and he still has tallied multiple touchdowns in only one game this season. More positively, after topping 240 passing yards only once in his first four contests, Wilson has topped that mark in four of his last five matchups.

  • Broncos' Russell Wilson: Sleepers (Start/Sit)

Wilson has been awful this season and failed to take advantage of a favorable matchup in Week 10 against the Titans, who were missing several key starters. And he might not have Jerry Jeudy (ankle) this week. So why is he listed here? He faces the Raiders in Week 11, and his only game with more than 19 Fantasy points this season was in Week 4 at Las Vegas when he scored 30 points. The Raiders are also No. 3 in most Fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks, and only Trevor Lawrence in Week 9 failed to score at least 20 Fantasy points against Las Vegas -- he had 18 points. Wilson could be used as a low-end starter in all formats, even if Jeudy is out, and hopefully he can repeat his magic from his earlier game against the Raiders in Week 11.

  • Broncos' Russell Wilson: Sneaky Sleeper (Lineup Decisions)

The good news for Wilson is that the matchup is terrific as the Raiders don't typically make quarterbacks skittish. The bad news for Wilson is that he's not likely to have Jerry Jeudy on the field with him, nor is his O-line particularly reliable, nor has he been a reliable passer this year. It'll take some guts to start Wilson as a bye-week quarterback, but the matchup qualifies him to be exactly that. He's worth the one-week risk over Ryan Tannehill, Derek Carr and Jared Goff.
