Top Jeremy Reaves News

  • Commanders' Jeremy Reaves: Receives tender

Reaves, a restricted free agent, was tendered by the Commanders on Tuesday, Nicki Jhabvala of the Washington Post reports.

Reaves has been with Washington since 2018, playing both on defense and special teams. Last year was the first time he played in more than nine games, though his 143 snaps were his fewest since 2019. He'll likely retain a heavy special-teams workload while playing an occasional rotational role on defense.

  • Football Team's Jeremy Reaves: Produces double-digit tackles

Reaves had 10 tackles (six solo) during Sunday's 56-14 loss to the Cowboys.

Reaves had played only one defensive snap all season before receiving the start Week 15, and he now has 22 total tackles in two games. The 25-year-old should retain the starting job down the stretch with Landon Collins (foot) and Deshazor Everett (personal) on injured reserve and the NFI list, respectively.

  • Jeremy Reaves: Joins practice squad

Reaves signed to Washington's practice squad Wednesday, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.

Reaves was cut ahead of Tuesday's roster deadline but will stick around the organization on the practice squad. The 25-year-old has appeared in 20 games for Washington over the past three years and totaled 25 tackles (15 solo) and one interception in 2020.

  • Football Team's Jeremy Reaves: Finishes season strong

Reaves started three of his nine games in 2020, recording 25 tackles (15 solo), two pass defenses, one sack and one interception.

Reaves took over as a starter when Deshazor Everett was placed on IR after Week 14. The third-year pro had 10 tackles in the playoff loss to Tampa Bay and finished as PFF's No. 4 graded safety, logging 262 defensive snaps in the regular season and 74 more in the playoffs. Reaves, Everett, Kamren Curl and Landon Collins (Achilles) are all under contract with Washington for at least one more season, so the team has a few different options for handling the safety spots in 2021. It remains to be seen if Reaves' solid performance over a small sample will be enough to put him in the mix for a starting job.

  • Football Team's Jeremy Reaves: Bound for starting role?

Reaves is likely to enter the starting lineup following the placement of Deshazor Everett (pectoral) on IR, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.

Reaves played 41 percent of defensive snaps against the 49ers last weekend after Everett was forced out, and it appears that the Football Team could be forced to rely on him as a starter the rest of the way. In that case, Troy Apke and Cole Luke would be candidates for rotational gigs.

  • Football Team's Jeremy Reaves: Receives promotion

Washington signed Reaves to the active roster Tuesday, Kyle Stackpole of the team's official site reports.

Reaves was on the practice squad but received a promotion following news that Landon Collins (torn Achilles) is done for the year. The 24-year-old safety played 11 games for Washington over the previous two seasons, recording 15 tackles and a pass breakup. He'll operate in a reserve role on defense, as Kamren Curl is in line for a starting role at strong safety.

  • Redskins' Jeremy Reaves: Return is questionable

Reaves is being evaluated for a head injury and his return to Thursday's contest against the Vikings is questionable.

  • Redskins' Jeremy Reaves: Downgraded to out

Reaves (head) has been downgraded to out for the remainder of Thursday's game against the Vikings.

It remains to be seen if Reaves is in concussion protocol, but if that is the case, he'll have to pass league protocol testing before he can take the field again. For the remainder of the contest, look for Troy Apke and Landon Collins to hold down the fort at safety.
