Helm was waived by the Lions on Saturday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Helm signed with the Lions on Aug. 2 after being waived by the Falcons in May. He played in two of three preseason games for Detroit but failed to record a catch. He'll likely have to settle for a practice squad spot as he looks for an opportunity elsewhere.

  • Daniel Helm: Waived by San Fran

Helm was waived by the 49ers on Tuesday, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports. The 26-year-old re-signed with San Francisco in mid-March but won't remain with the team through the offseason. Helm made his NFL debut in 2020 and wasn't targeted in five games.

  • Daniel Helm: Shifts back to practice squad

Helm reverted to the 49ers' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log. Helm collected seven of his 11 total snaps on offense during Saturday's 20-12 win over Arizona, but he remains without a reception over five appearances this season. George Kittle's Week 16 activation from a foot injury does nothing to improve Helm's potential involvement in the passing game moving forward.

  • 49ers' Daniel Helm: Elevated for Week 16

Helm was promoted to the 49ers' active roster from the practice squad Friday, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. The 25-year-old was also elevated to the active roster Week 15 and played 21 offensive snaps, though he didn't receive a target. Helm figures to play even more of a depth role this weekend with George Kittle (foot) back from injured reserve.

  • Daniel Helm: Back with Niners

The 49ers signed Helm to their practice squad Wednesday. Helm was let loose by the 49ers last week after coming off the reserve/COVID-19 list, so he appears healthy in his return to the organization. The Duke product has suited up in three games with the 53-man roster in San Francisco this season, failing to record a fantasy-relevant stat over that span.

  • Daniel Helm: Back in Bay Area

The 49ers signed Helm to their practice squad Wednesday, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports. Helm cleared waivers Wednesday after he was cut by the team a day earlier, and the team elected to keep him in-house. The 25-year-old made his NFL debut in last week's win over the Rams, so he'll add nice depth and familiarity to the tight end depth chart on the practice squad.

  • Chiefs' Daniel Helm: Nabbed off waivers

The Chiefs claimed Helm off waivers from the 49ers on Sunday, Albert Breer of TheMMQB.com reports. Every other team passed up on acquiring Helm, but the Chiefs opted to add depth to their tight-end room. Helm didn't play a snap in 2019 as an undrafted rookie, and he'll likely seek to be the No. 4 tight end behind Travis Kelce, Ricky Seals-Jones and Deon Yelder (groin).

  • Daniel Helm: Let go Saturday

Helm was waived by the 49ers on Saturday, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports. Helm wasn't considered much of a receiving threat at tight end, and with George Kittle locked up for the foreseeable future, it's clear depth at the position is a bit less of a priority. It's possible Helm could ultimately wind up on the team's practice squad down the road.

  • 49ers' Daniel Helm: Doesn't see action in 2019

Helm did not receive any playing time after being signed late in the 2019 season. Helm was signed from the practice squad in December following Garrett Celek's placement on IR. The latter has decided to retire, so there is a chance the undrafted rookie sticks with San Francisco if the team liked what they saw in practice during his rookie campaign. Helm wasn't much of a receiving threat at Duke, so his fantasy upside is limited, especially if he remains on the back end of a roster.
