  • Eric Tomlinson: Gets cut loose

Tomlinson was released by the Texans on Thursday, Brooks Kubena of the Houston Chronicle reports. Tomlinson signed a deal with Houston on May 3 after spending the 2022 campaign in Denver, but it appears his time with the Texans will be cut short. The 31-year-old logged nine receptions on 13 targets for 79 yards and a pair of touchdowns for the Broncos in 2022 in 17 contests. He'll now look to catch on elsewhere as a depth tight end.

  • Texans' Eric Tomlinson: Heading to Houston

Tomlinson agreed to a contract with the Texans on Wednesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. Tomlinson will head to Houston after he spent the 2022 campaign in Denver, where he reeled in a career-high nine catches for 79 yards and two scores over 17 games. The 31-year-old will reunite in Houston with tight end coach Jake Moreland, who was on the Denver staff last season. Tomlinson will provide an additional depth option behind newly-acquired Dalton Schultz in 2023.

  • Broncos' Eric Tomlinson: Two touchdowns in 2022

Tomlinson caught nine of 13 targets for 79 yards and two touchdowns while playing all 17 games of the 2022 season. Known mostly for his skills as a blocker, Tomlinson operated in a depth role at tight end and saw just 13 targets across 17 games. With that said, he was surprisingly tied for second on the Broncos with two receiving touchdowns. The veteran played at least 50 percent of offensive snaps just once during the 2022 campaign, as rookie Greg Dulcich eventually stepped up as the leader of Denver's tight end corps for most of the season. Tomlinson is set to be a free agent this offseason, so the 30-year-old will likely audition for a spot on the roster with a new coaching staff in the coming months. Nonetheless, Tomlinson's skills as a blocker will likely help him secure his next contract, even if the Broncos decide to move on.

Tomlinson (ankle) is active Sunday against the Chargers. Tomlinson was unable to practice Wednesday or Thursday, but he'll take the field Sunday in the Broncos' regular-season finale. He'll likely fall behind Albert Okwuegbunam as the team's No. 3 option at tight end.

  • Broncos' Eric Tomlinson: Questionable for season finale

Tomlinson (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's season finale against the Chargers, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports. Tomlinson has been hindered in practice by an ankle injury. With Eric Saubert (knee) also questionable, the Broncos could be shorthanded at tight end behind Albert Okwuegbunam in the season finale.

  • Broncos' Eric Tomlinson: Remains sidelined Thursday

Tomlinson (ankle) didn't practice Thursday, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports. Tomlinson has now opened Week 18 prep with back-to-back DNP designations on Denver's injury report as a result of an ankle issue. The veteran tight end still has Friday's session to ramp back up to limited/full speed, but Albert Okwuegbunam, Eric Saubert (knee) and Andrew Beck (elbow) would all be in line for additional reps this weekend against the Chargers if Tomlinson is eventually unable to receive the green light.

  • Broncos' Eric Tomlinson: Dealing with ankle injury

Tomlinson didn't practice Wednesday due to an ankle injury, Ellie Kinney of the Broncos' official site reports. Tomlinson played 22 offensive snaps in Week 17 but didn't record any offensive stats. It's unclear when he suffered the ankle injury or how severe the issue is, but he'll have two more chances to practice before Denver needs to make a decision on his status for Sunday's season finale against the Chargers.

  • Broncos' Eric Tomlinson: Finds end zone in win

Tomlinson caught all three of his targets for 28 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-15 win over the Cardinals. Tomlinson was the Broncos' most productive tight end in Sunday's victory over Arizona despite playing the third most offensive snaps at the position. The 30-year-old's three targets and three receptions were his highest marks in a game this year, while his touchdown was his first of the season. On the other hand, starter Greg Dulcich was a complete nonfactor in the contest, reeling in just one of his two targets for 11 yards. Going forward, one should expect these roles to swing back in favor of Dulcich as Denver's No. 1 tight end. The rookie will look to bounce back after an underwhelming performance. Tomlinson, however, will not be a trustworthy option for fantasy purposes when the Broncos visit the Rams in Week 16.

  • Broncos' Eric Tomlinson: Not targeted in win

Tomlinson failed to record a single target in Sunday's 21-17 win over the Jaguars. Tomlinson operated as Denver's No. 2 tight end Sunday, but he played just 18 of the team's 61 offensive snaps in the contest. Rookie Greg Dulcich, however, dominated the tight end snap share with 49 snaps on his way to leading the Broncos with 87 receiving yards. Barring an injury to Dulcich, Tomlinson is not a consideration for fantasy rosters as the Broncos head into their Week 9 bye.

  • Broncos' Eric Tomlinson: Back with Denver

The Broncos signed Tomlinson on Wednesday, Aric DiLalla of the team's official site reports. Tomlinson didn't make the initial 53-man roster but returns to the team after the Broncos placed two players on injured reserve. The 30-year-old tight end appeared in all 17 games for Baltimore last year and is expected to garner a sizable role behind Albert Okwuegbunam in Denver, at least until rookie tight end Greg Dulcich returns from IR.

Tomlinson (foot) was present but not active during practice Monday, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports. Per Mike Klis of 9News Denver, Tomlinson was seen with a boot on his left foot. It may become more clear what exactly Tomlinson is dealing with in the coming days, but in the meantime his absence will create additional opportunities for 2022 UDFA additions Dylan Parham and Rodney Williams.

Tomlinson signed a one-year contract with the Broncos on Tuesday, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports. Tomlinson spent part of 2021 on the Ravens' practice squad, but he still appeared in all 17 games and totaled one catch for seven yards. It was the 29-year-old's first reception since 2019, and he's likely to operate primarily as a blocker with his new team.

Tomlinson has played for five teams over the past five years, catching 17 passes for 194 yards and one touchdown on 1,144 offensive snaps. The Ravens elevated Tomlinson to the active roster Saturday, Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun reports. Tomlinson looks set to appear in his fourth straight game with the Ravens.
