  • Saints' Nephi Sewell: Still on mend from surgery

    Saints head coach Dennis Allen said in February that Sewell (knee) isn't expected to be ready for training camp, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports. Given that Sewell tore his ACL in Week 17 last season, it's not surprising that the linebacker will be eased back from surgery. Once healthy, the 25-year-old -- who recorded 15 tackles in 16 regular-season outings in 2023 -- is in line to reprise his depth/special-teams role with New Orleans.

  • Saints' Nephi Sewell: Officially moves to IR

    Sewell (knee) was placed on injured reserve Friday. The 25-year-old linebacker out of Utah tore his ACL in the Saints' Week 17 win over the Buccaneers, so it's no surprise that he's shifted over to IR. Sewell has appeared in 16 games for New Orleans this season, recording 15 total tackles, including two tackles for loss and forcing one fumble while playing 323 total snaps (57 defensive and 266 on special teams).

  • Saints' Nephi Sewell: Season ends early

    Sewell suffered an ACL injury, which will require surgery, in the Saints' win over the Buccaneers on Sunday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports. Sewell will now focus on prep for surgery, as opposed to New Orleans' Week 18 opponent, the Falcons. The Utah product's second NFL season will come to an end with 16 games played, 15 tackles (11 solo) and a forced fumble while mostly covering on special teams. The severity of the injury and what Sewell's recovery timeline might be isn't yet clear.
