Player Outlook
Wicks was a hot-shot prospect in 2021 when he averaged a robust 21.1 yards per catch at Virginia with nine touchdowns in 12 games. But he regressed in 2022, scoring twice in eight games and suffered a bone bruise. At 6-foot-1 and 206 pounds, Wicks has good size with quick feet and build-up speed, but he dropped a bunch of passes due to bringing targets into his body instead of snaring with his hands. He has a shot at developing into a role player for the Packers, who do not have a lot of depth at the position. He's worth a speculative add off waivers in Dynasty leagues.

  • Packers' Dontayvion Wicks: Reels in three passes

Wicks was targeted four times and caught three passes for 43 yards in Sunday's 27-19 victory over Kansas City. The 43 yards Wicks racked up were his fewest over his last four appearances, but they were still the third most accumulated by any Packers pass catcher in Week 13. Wicks remains fourth on the wideout depth chart, but he is producing when given the opportunity, and he could get a few more of those in Week 14 if Christian Watson (hamstring) is unable to go.

  • Packers' Dontayvion Wicks: Back in action Sunday

Wicks (knee) is active for Sunday's game versus the Chiefs, Mike Spofford of the Packers' official site reports. Wicks missed the Packers' Week 12 win at Detroit on Thanksgiving due to a concussion and a knee injury. While he made it through the protocol for head injuries as of last Monday, he remained limited in practice during Week 13 prep as a result of the other concern. Now that he's been cleared to play again, Wicks will serve as Green Bay's fourth wide receiver behind Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs and Jayden Reed (chest).

  • Packers' Dontayvion Wicks: Questionable for Sunday

Wicks (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's contest versus the Chiefs, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports. Wicks suffered a concussion and a knee issue during the Packers' Week 11 win against the Chargers, keeping him out of a Thanksgiving game at Detroit. He put the head injury behind him as of Monday, when coach Matt LaFleur said the wideout made it through all five phases of the protocol. But the knee concern has persisted and capped Wicks to limited showings this week. The statuses of both Jayden Reed (chest) and Wicks are up in the air for Week 13 and won't be confirmed, one way or another, until approximately 90 minutes before Sunday's 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff.

  • Packers' Dontayvion Wicks: Another limited session

Wicks (knee) practiced on a limited basis Thursday. Wicks emerged from Week 11 with a concussion and a knee injury, and while he put the former behind him by completing the protocol for head injuries by Monday, he's been operating with practice restrictions this week due to the latter. Prior to sitting out the Packers' Thanksgiving matchup with the Lions, Wicks was making some headway in Green Bay's passing game, hauling in 12 of 17 targets for 219 yards over the previous four contests. If he's able to play Sunday versus the Chiefs, Wicks again would serve as the team's No. 4 WR behind Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs and Jayden Reed (chest).

  • Packers' Dontayvion Wicks: Limited in practice Wednesday

Wicks was a limited participant at Wednesday's practice due to a knee injury. Wicks sustained a concussion as a well as a knee injury near the end of the Packers' Week 11 win over the Chargers and also emerged from that game with the knee issue. The two injuries resulted in him turning in just one limited practice last week, and he ultimately wasn't able to clear the concussion protocol ahead of the Packers' Thanksgiving Day win over the Lions. According to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com, head coach Matt LaFleur revealed Monday that Wicks has now cleared the protocol, but the receiver will still have to work to overcome the knee injury in order to play Sunday against the Chiefs. He'll have two more chances this week to upgrade to full practice activity.

  • Packers' Dontayvion Wicks: Lifted from protocol

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Monday that Wicks has been removed from the NFL's concussion protocol, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports. Wicks suffered the concussion in Green Bay's Week 11 win over the Chargers and was unable to clear the five-step protocol last week ahead of Thursday's win over the Lions. The lengthier turnaround for this Sunday's matchup with the Chiefs should help the rookie receiver, who looks poised to practice fully throughout the week now that he's been removed from the protocol.

  • Packers' Dontayvion Wicks: Sitting out Thursday

Wicks (concussion/knee) is inactive for Thursday's game at Detroit, Mike Spofford of the Packers' official site reports. Considering Wicks was listed as limited only one time during Week 12 prep, he was a long shot to clear the concussion protocol on a short week. With the rookie fifth-round pick sidelined, Malik Heath, Samori Toure and Bo Melton will be the Packers' options at wide receiver behind Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs and Jayden Reed (chest).

  • Packers' Dontayvion Wicks: Getting concussion check

Wicks is under evaluation for a head injury during Sunday's contest versus the Chargers. Wicks made the most of his five targets in Week 11, turning them into three catches for 91 yards. Having said that, he got a concussion check inside of the two-minute warning, so a diagnosis may not be confirmed before Sunday's game concludes.

  • Packers' Dontayvion Wicks: Records season-high 49 yards

Wicks was targeted four times and caught four passes for 49 yards in Sunday's 20-3 victory over the Rams. Wicks drew four targets for the second time in as many games, and the 49 yards he put up were the most he has accrued in his rookie season. Despite the recent activity he remains Green Bay's No. 4 option at the wideout spot when everyone is healthy. However, he could bump up a notch against a below-average Steelers pass defense in Week 10 if Christian Watson (upper body) is unable to go.

  • Packers' Dontayvion Wicks: Makes most of opportunities

Wicks caught one pass for 17 yards, rushed once for one yard and completed one pass for 14 yards in Sunday's 19-17 loss to the Broncos. Wicks played less than half as many snaps as three other Packers wideouts, but he did make a couple plays while he was out there. He recorded six receptions for 85 yards and a score across Weeks 2 and 3 but has totaled just two receptions for 27 yards in three games since.

  • Packers' Dontayvion Wicks: Scores first touchdown

Wicks caught two of four targets for 40 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 25-24 loss to the Falcons. Wicks extended Green Bay's lead by breaking a tackle en route to a 32-yard touchdown during the third quarter. While that marked the rookie fifth-rounder's first end-zone trip, it wasn't enough for the Packers to avoid a late defeat. Still, in leading his team in receiving yards Sunday, Wicks turned in a commendable performance with usual top wideout Christian Watson (hamstring) sidelined once again.

  • Packers' Dontayvion Wicks: Leads Packers wideouts in snaps

Wicks was targeted twice but did not catch a pass in Sunday's 38-20 victory over the Bears. Wicks made only a blip in the box score in his first appearance as a professional, but it should be noted that the 37 offensive snaps he played were five more than any other Green Bay wideout. Wicks did not start Sunday's contest and is no higher than fourth on the depth when everyone is healthy, but both of his targets came before the game had been decided, so it appears the rookie is getting a chance to carve out a role.

  • Packers' Dontayvion Wicks: Should be available at Chicago

Wicks (hamstring) was a full participant at practice Thursday ahead of Sunday's game at the Bears, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports. Wicks had been limited by a hamstring issue since Green Bay's second preseason game, but it looks like he'll be ready when the Packers go to Chicago on Sunday. He could be in line for an expanded role right out of the gate, as Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs are each still dealing with hamstring injuries of their own.

  • Packers' Dontayvion Wicks: Injures hamstring Saturday

Wicks left Saturday's preseason game against the Patriots with a hamstring injury, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports. After catching three passes for 68 yards on four targets in the preseason opener last week, Wicks wasn't targeted against New England prior to leaving with his injury. The fifth-round rookie is expected to win one of the final receiver spots in Green Bay.

  • Packers' Dontayvion Wicks: Gets work in preseason debut

Wicks was targeted four times and caught three passes for 68 yards in Friday's 36-19 preseason victory over the Bengals. Wicks missed time early in training camp with a concussion, but the rookie fifth-rounder got in over a week of practice prior to Friday's contest, and he caught a couple long passes -- including a 47-yarder -- in his professional debut. Wicks is listed as a second-string wideout on the depth chart on Green Bay's official website, and as things stand he is competing with Samori Toure for the fourth spot in the pecking order.

  • Packers' Dontayvion Wicks: Absent from camp

Wicks (concussion) did not take part in Thursday's training camp practice, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports. The 2023 fifth-round pick will continue to compete for playing time in a crowded yet young and unproven Green Bay wide receiver room. In his junior season at Virginia, Wicks caught 57 passes for 1,203 yards and nine touchdowns. Don't be surprised if the rookie makes a strong push for the No. 3 or No. 4 receiver role once he recovers.
