  • Buccaneers' Chase Edmonds: Gets chance in Tampa Bay

The Buccaneers are signing Edmonds to a one-year contract Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Edmonds is coming off a disappointing 2022 campaign, having suited up for eight games with the Dolphins and five games with the Broncos, but with just 245 rushing yards and two touchdowns (3.6 YPC) plus 16 catches for 157 yards and a receiving score. The 26-year-old did look better down the stretch in Denver, and from 2019-21 with Arizona he was one of the most efficient running back's in the NFL, so he's could be worth monitoring in his new landing spot. With the Buccaneers having released Leonard Fournette, Rachaad White currently stands as Edmonds' primary competition for touches.

  • Chase Edmonds: Being let go by Broncos

The Broncos are slated to release Edmonds, Adam Schefter of ESPN and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network report. Per Schefter, releasing Edmonds will free up $5.92 million in salary cap space for the Broncos. In 13 games (eight with Miami and five with Denver) this past season, Edmonds carried 68 times for 245 yards and two touchdowns while adding 16 catches for 157 yards and a receiving score. The 26-year-old will now look to catch on with another team in need of backfield help ahead of the 2023 NFL campaign.

  • Broncos' Chase Edmonds: Scores three touchdowns in 2022

Edmonds appeared in 13 games during the 2022 season, rushing 68 times for 245 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught 16 of 24 targets for 157 yards and one touchdown. Edmonds found a new home during the 2022 season after being traded from Miami to Denver on Nov. 1, a deal sending linebacker Bradley Chubb to the Dolphins. The veteran running back scored all three of his touchdowns while in Miami for the first eight weeks of the season. Following the trade, Edmonds appeared in just five games with the Broncos, rushing 26 times for 125 yards and catching six of seven targets for 61 yards. The 26-year-old missed four games after being placed on injured reserve with a high-ankle sprain, further limiting his time on the field. Edmonds saw double-digit carries just once this season back in Week 1 with the Dolphins. Looking ahead to the 2023 campaign, Edmonds remains under contract and is set to become a free agent in 2024. With teammate Javonte Williams (knee) recovering from a season-ending right ACL tear, Edmonds could find himself in an increased role out of the backfield to start the season if Williams is not ready to go. With fellow running backs Latavius Murray, Marlon Mack (hamstring) and Mike Boone (ankle) all hitting free agency this offseason, it will be interesting to see what the Broncos decide to do in the backfield given Williams' injury status.

  • Broncos' Chase Edmonds: Week 18 Waiver Priority List

Edmonds has done well in two games with the Broncos since coming back from his ankle injury. He had eight touches in Week 16 at the Rams and scored seven PPR points, and he had 10 touches in Week 17 at the Chiefs and scored nine PPR points, with five catches over that span. We'll see if he gets more work in Week 18 against the Chargers now that Marlon Mack (hamstring) is hurt, but Edmonds could be a flex option in deeper leagues as he continues to work in tandem with Latavius Murray.

  • Broncos' Chase Edmonds: Modest production in loss

Edmonds rushed seven times for 34 yards and caught all three of his targets for 39 yards in Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Chiefs. Despite a relatively quiet fantasy day as the Broncos' No. 2 running back, Edmonds played 41 of Denver's 70 offensive snaps in the contest. Meanwhile, starter Latavius Murray played just one more snap than Edmonds. As the Broncos' disappointing season nears its end, it's possible the team wants to see more from its recently acquired veteran instead of relying too heavily on the 32-year-old Murray to close out the season. If a near-even split in playing time continues, Edmonds could have the opportunity to gain some positive momentum heading into the offseason in a Week 18 matchup against the Chargers.

  • Broncos' Chase Edmonds: Receives eight touches in return

Edmonds (ankle) was activated off injured reserve and gained 31 yards on six carries and 22 yards on two receptions in Sunday's 51-14 loss to the Rams. Edmonds spent the minimum four weeks on injured reserve before being activated ahead of Sunday's tilt. The 26-year-old was mixed in behind starter Latavius Murray (8/41/0) and finished second in backfield touches ahead of Marlon Mack (2/17/0). Edmonds should continue to handle receiving duties while spelling Murray when the Broncos take on the Chiefs in Week 17.

  • Broncos' Chase Edmonds: Activated off IR

The Broncos activated Edmonds (ankle) from injured reserve ahead of Sunday's game against the Rams. Edmonds, who last suited up for a game in Week 11, has bounced back from the high ankle sprain that landed him on IR and is slated to bolster the Broncos' backfield depth down the stretch after having returned to practice this past week. In his looming return, it remains to be seen how much work Edmonds sees in Week 16, but for now he figures to work alongside Marlon Mack behind Latavius Murray, assuming Murray -- who is listed as questionable with a foot injury -- plays Sunday, as he believes he will.

  • Broncos' Chase Edmonds: Set to practice

Denver designated Edmonds (ankle) for return from injured reserve Wednesday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports. Edmonds, who last suited up Week 11, has been cleared to resume practicing Wednesday and is thus a candidate to be added back to the 53-man roster in advance of Sunday's game against the Rams. If that happens, Edmonds would bolster Denver's backfield depth down the stretch, while likely moving into a complementary role behind Latavius Murray. In this past weekend's win over the Cardinals, Murray carried 24 times for 130 yards and a touchdown.

  • Broncos' Chase Edmonds: Heads to injured reserve

The Broncos placed Edmonds (ankle) on injured reserve Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Edmonds was unable to return to this past Sunday's overtime loss to the Raiders after getting injured, and he eventually was diagnosed with a high right-ankle sprain. On Monday, coach Nathaniel Hackett told Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com that Edmonds was slated to miss "a lot of time," which will be at least four games now that he resides on IR. After the Broncos waived Melvin Gordon on Monday, Latavius Murray and Marlon Mack are the only running backs on the active roster, while Devine Ozigbo and Tyreik McAllister are candidates to be elevated from the practice squad.

  • Broncos' Chase Edmonds: Slated to miss time

Coach Nathaniel Hackett noted Monday that Edmonds is in line to miss "a lot of time'" with a high right-ankle sprain, Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com reports. It remains to be seen if Edmonds is headed to IR, but it sounds like he's going to miss multiple games. With Melvin Gordon no longer in the mix, Latavius Murray, Marlon Mack and Devine Ozigbo (currently on the practice squad) figure to lead the Broncos' rushing attack this coming Sunday against the Panthers.

  • Broncos' Chase Edmonds: Tending to high-ankle sprain

Edmonds suffered a high-ankle sprain in Sunday's 22-16 overtime loss to the Raiders, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Per Schefter, the injury is expected to sideline Edmonds for a couple weeks. If Edmonds heals quickly, he could see an expanded role behind Latavius Murray, as the Broncos waived fellow running back Melvin Gordon on Monday. Given that high-ankle sprains often require 4-to-6 weeks of recovery time, the possibility also exists that Edmonds may not heal up in time to make an impact before Denver's season ends.

  • Broncos' Chase Edmonds: Leaves Sunday's game

Edmonds was forced out of Sunday's game against the Raiders with an ankle injury. Prior to his first-quarter exit from the contest, Edmonds carried twice for six yards. In his absence, Melvin Gordon and Latavius Murray are available to handle Denver's backfield duties.

  • Broncos' Chase Edmonds: Minimal involvement in loss

Edmonds rushed two times for nine yards and caught one of two targets for zero yards in Sunday's 17-10 loss to the Titans. In his debut with the Broncos, Edmonds played just 15 of Denver's 80 offensive snaps. The veteran played behind both Melvin Gordon and Latavius Murray, as all three backs struggled to get much going on the ground. Any hope of the offense improving after the team's bye week was quickly diminished, as the team's only touchdown was on a busted coverage allowing Russell Wilson to connect with wide receiver Jalen Virgil. The Broncos' continued offensive woes paired with what is likely to be a three-man committee at running back will likely put a cap on Edmonds' fantasy potential. However, it would make sense to see his involvement increase as the season progresses. The 26-year-old will look to take a step forward when the Broncos host the Raiders in Week 11, though he will be difficult to trust in fantasy lineups.

  • Broncos' Chase Edmonds: Week 10 Waiver Priority List

Edmonds might be the top running back for the Broncos following his trade from the Dolphins last week. It's all a guessing game until we see what Denver does in Week 10 at Tennessee with Edmonds, Melvin Gordon and Latavius Murray, but Edmonds is worth stashing to find out. He fell out of favor in Miami and never had more than seven total touches in any game after Week 1. Maybe he can establish himself as the main option for the Broncos, although I don't expect Murray and Gordon to go away. But for a small investment of no more than 5 percent of your remaining FAB you can add Edmonds to see what develops.

  • Broncos' Chase Edmonds: On to Mile High

The Dolphins agreed Tuesday to trade Edmonds, a 2023 first-round pick and a 2024 fourth-rounder to the Broncos for pass rusher Bradley Chubb and a 2025 fifth-round selection, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. In the wake of Javonte Williams' season-ending ACL tear, Denver has operated a timeshare in its backfield, and Edmonds will provide another option alongside Melvin Gordon and Latavius Murray. It's unclear what kind of role Edmonds can expect with his new team, but in five campaigns between Arizona and Miami, he's averaged 4.5 yards per carry, hauled in 76 percent of his 181 targets and scored 17 touchdowns in 65 games.

  • Dolphins' Chase Edmonds: Unimpressive with four carries

Edmonds carried the ball four times for 14 yard during Sunday's 31-27 win over Detroit. Edmonds has now logged less than 4.0 yards per carry in seven of eight appearances this season, while Raheem Mostert (80 all-purpose yards versus the Lions) has emerged as the clear No. 1 option in Miami's backfield. Until such time as Edmonds shows some of the efficiency and versatility he flashed during his tenure with the Cardinals, his only fantasy value is as a backup option in case Mostert were to miss time.

  • Dolphins' Chase Edmonds: Does little with seven carries

Edmonds rushed seven times for 17 yards and failed to catch either of his two targets in Sunday's 16-10 win over the Steelers. Edmonds' struggles continued as Raheem Mostert (20 touches for 106 combined yards and a score) keeps proving that he is the superior back in Miami. The 26-year-old received his second highest carry total this season, but he remained ineffective (2.4 YPC) on the ground while having no impact in the passing game. It is hard to recommend even rostering a player performing this poorly, but Edmonds could find himself back in the fantasy conversation quickly if the oft-injured Mostert goes down at any point this season. For now, Edmonds should be considered an underperforming backup heading into next Sunday's tilt against the Lions.

  • Dolphins' Chase Edmonds: Just four touches in loss

Edmonds had two carries for three yards and secured both of his targets for 28 yards during Sunday's 24-16 loss to the Vikings. He was again overshadowed by Raheem Mostert, who had 14 carries for 49 yards and also saw two targets. Edmonds has now handled less than 50 percent of the offensive snaps in every contest since Week 1 and saw just a 39 percent load versus Minnesota. Until fantasy managers see proof that he has reclaimed a sizeable role in Miami's offense, he should be left on the bench or waiver wire in most formats.

  • Dolphins' Chase Edmonds: Phased out as drops continue

Edmonds rushed once for one yard and failed to catch either of his two targets in Sunday's 40-17 loss to the Jets. Raheem Mostert mustered 122 scrimmage yards and a touchdown as Miami's clear lead back, while Alain Poupart of Sports Illustrated Fan Nation points out that Myles Gaskin supplanted Edmonds as Miami's change-of-pace back following a pair of dropped passes by Edmonds. Gaskin turned four carries and five targets into 33 scrimmage yards. It's too early to tell whether Edmonds' benching will carry over into Week 6 against the Vikings, but he'll be tough to trust regardless after generating fewer than 30 yards in each of his last three games.

  • Dolphins' Chase Edmonds: Receiving score in loss

Edmonds rushed five times for six yards and brought in two of three targets for 14 yards and a touchdown in the Dolphins' 27-15 loss to the Bengals on Thursday night. Edmonds logged 10 fewer carries than backfield mate Raheem Mostert, but he was able to find the end zone for the third time in the last two games via a seven-yard touchdown reception with seven seconds remaining in the first half. Edmonds has generated just 85 yards on 28 carries over his first four games, but he does have a pair of rushing scores along with Thursday's receiving touchdown, his first of the season. Edmonds figures to remain in a complementary role, albeit one that includes a solid red-zone presence thus far, irrespective of whether it's Tua Tagovailoa (head/neck) or Teddy Bridgewater under center for a Week 5 AFC East road showdown against the Jets a week from Sunday.
