  • Rashaan Evans: Cut from practice squad

Evans was released from the Eagles' practice squad Friday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Evans requested his release, as there are apparently several other opportunities that he is considering. The 2018 first-round pick accumulated 159 tackles across 17 games for the Falcons last season, but he was surprisingly absent from training camps across the league in August.

  • Falcons' Rashaan Evans: Ties season low with six stops

Evans recorded six tackles (two solo) during Saturday's 17-9 loss to Baltimore. Evans tied his season low with six stops and snapped a six-game double-digit tackle streak. Despite finishing second on the team in tackles behind Richie Grant, Evans' performance Saturday was certainly disappointing given his recent string of success. In his first season with Atlanta, Evans has totaled a career-high 151 tackles, so he'll look to get back on track in Week 17 against the Cardinals.

  • Falcons' Rashaan Evans: Records first sack of season

Evans totaled nine tackles (four solo) and one sack during Sunday's 37-34 overtime win over the Panthers. Evans was busy again in Week 8, recording at least nine tackles for the fifth time over his last six appearances. However, his first sack of the season -- an eight-yard loss on a 3rd-and-9 play in the fourth quarter -- made Sunday's outing Evans' best fantasy performance of the campaign. Across his first eight appearances with Atlanta, Evans has totaled 74 tackles, three pass defenses, two fumble recoveries and one sack. He'll look to maintain his strong play against the Chargers in Week 9.

  • Titans' Rashaan Evans: Won't get fifth-year option

The Titans aren't picking up the fifth-year option on Evans' rookie contract, but they still hope to sign him to an extension, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. The 22nd pick in the 2018 Draft, Evans was a 16-game starter in 2019 and 2020, playing 86 and 80 percent of Tennessee's defensive snaps, respectively. He's never forced a fumble or picked off a pass in the NFL, but he did flash IDP potential in 2019, when he had 111 tackles and 2.5 sacks. Fellow ILB Jayon Brown re-signed with the Titans on a one-year, $5.3 million contract earlier this offseason, following a 2020 campaign with 76 tackles and eight pass defenses in only 10 games. Brown has been much better in coverage, while Evans is arguably the superior run defender. Both are on expiring contracts in 2021.

  • Titans' Rashaan Evans: Notches 96 tackles

Evans recorded 96 tackles, 0.5 sacks, two tackles for loss, five passes defensed and one fumble recovery across 16 games in the 2020 regular season. Evans finished third on the team with 96 tackles, though that total took a dip from his 2019 campaign. Even so, Evans was a leader amongst the Titans' linebacker corps by pacing the group in tackles and snaps. While Jayon Brown and Harold Landry both arguably outplayed Evans, he was nevertheless a steadying force for the defense. Evans potentially will head into the final year of his rookie deal in 2021, though the team possesses a fifth-year option that could be exercised to keep him under contract through 2022.
