Player Outlook
Slayton stayed with the Giants this year after signing a two-year contract extension in March. He should remain a starter, but that doesn't mean he's a Fantasy starter. Slayton is only worth drafting with a late-round pick in most Fantasy leagues. The Giants have a lot of weapons in the passing game with Slayton, Darren Waller, Isaiah Hodgins, Wan'Dale Robinson, Sterling Shepard, Jalin Hyatt and Parris Campbell. Aside from Waller, none of the receivers have proven to be dominant, but Slayton should have plenty of positive moments during the season. While he only averaged 8.0 PPR points per game in 2022, he did have seven games with at least 11.0 PPR points. He also had eight games with six-plus targets, so don't be surprised if Slayton becomes a popular waiver-wire option during the season if he gets on a hot streak.

  • Giants' Darius Slayton: Leads team with modest yardage

Slayton secured three of six targets for 32 yards in the Giants' 30-12 loss to the 49ers on Thursday night. Slayton's yardage total, modest as it was, set the pace for the Giants on the night, and he also tied with Parris Campbell and Darren Waller for the team lead in targets. The veteran speedster also recorded the second-longest catch of the night for New York (17 yards), but like the rest of the team's air attack, he was victimized by Daniel Jones' mediocre play. Slayton has three catches apiece in each of his first three contests, a number he'll look to improve on against a vulnerable Seahawks secondary in a Week 4 home matchup on Monday night, Oct. 2.

  • Giants' Darius Slayton: Three grabs in Sunday's win

Slayton caught three of six targets for 62 yards in Sunday's 31-28 win over the Cardinals. He tied Parris Campbell for the lead in targets among the Giants' wideouts, but rookie Jalin Hyatt produced more receiving yards and Isaiah Hodgins caught more passes, including a TD. Slayton's the only one of that crew who caught multiple passes in New York's opener as well, but the team's crowded depth chart could prevent any one WR from truly breaking out. Slayton and the others will take on a 49ers secondary Thursday night that just got torched for 15 catches and 147 yards by Rams rookie Puka Nacua.

  • Giants' Darius Slayton: Gains 15 yards in loss

Slayton had three catches (five targets) for 15 yards in Sunday's 40-0 loss to Dallas. Slayton started for the Giants to kick off the regular season after being held out of most preseason action. That's where the good news ends, as the veteran did little with his five targets Sunday. The Giants looked outmatched against the Cowboys this week, but that is unlikely to be the case against the Cardinals next Sunday, so improved play from the team as a whole can be expected.

  • Giants' Darius Slayton: Logs limited work during preseason

Slayton was among the many Giants starters who saw minimal action during the exhibition slate, as he played in one game during which he logged 13 offensive snaps. Slayton's lone game action came in Week 2 of the preseason schedule, which also was the case for a majority of New York's offensive and defensive starters. It's still unclear exactly how the team's WR room will fall in terms of pecking order, but Slayton is expected to line up with the starters when the regular season kicks off. The 26-year-old recorded 46 catches (on 71 targets) for 724 yards and two touchdowns over 16 contests last season.

  • Giants' Darius Slayton: Staying with Giants

Slayton is re-signing with the Giants on a two-year deal, ESPN's Jordan Raanan reports. The deal was announced Thursday evening a few hours after the Giants signed former Colts wide receiver Parris Campbell to a one-year contract. The team lacks a clear standout at the position but has decent depth on paper, though perhaps not so much in practice with both Wan'Dale Robinson and Sterling Shepard recovering from ACL tears and Isaiah Hodgins needing to prove he's not a one-year wonder. Slayton could be in the mix for a Week 1 starting job -- depending on the Giants' transactions throughout the rest of the offseason -- following a 2022 campaign in which he posted a 46-724-2 receiving line on 71 targets. Slayton has finished between 724 and 751 receiving yards in three of his four NFL seasons, with 2021 being the exception when he was benched for much of the year and managed only 339 yards.

  • Giants' Darius Slayton: Nearly blanked in playoff loss

Slayton brought in one of five targets for four yards in the Giants' 38-7 divisional-round loss to the Eagles on Saturday night. A week after posting an impressive 88 receiving yards in a wild-card win over the Vikings, Slayton was nearly shut out altogether versus the suffocating Eagles defense. The quiet finish aside, Slayton appeared to be a good fit in coach Brian Daboll's offense, posting a solid 46-724-2 line on 71 targets across 16 games in the regular season while averaging a career-best 15.7 yards per reception. Slayton's speed and the fact he just turned 26 certainly could make him very viable on the open market, which he's slated to hit at the start of the new league year unless the Giants opt to secure his services prior to that.

  • Giants' Darius Slayton: Big day in wild-card win

Slayton caught four of eight targets for 88 yards in Sunday's 31-24 wild-card win over the Vikings. While it wasn't an efficient performance, Slayton provided the Giants with some big plays, including a 47-yard reception late in the first quarter that helped set up New York's second TD of the game. The 26-year-old wideout emerged as one of Daniel Jones' most trusted targets after barely playing to begin the year, but Slayton faces a tough matchup in the divisional round against an Eagles secondary that held him to two catches in their first meeting during the regular season.

  • Giants' Darius Slayton: Plays just three snaps in finale

Slayton was on the field for just three snaps and wasn't targeted in Sunday's 22-16 loss to the Eagles. Because the Giants were locked into the No. 6 seed in the NFC playoffs heading into Sunday regardless of how other games around the league played out, head coach Brian Daboll elected to rest several key players. Slayton appeared to be among that group, as the Giants didn't reveal that an injury was behind his minimal playing time. Expect Slayton to reclaim a full-time starting role in the Giants' wild-card matchup with the Vikings this Sunday.

  • Giants' Darius Slayton: Held in check Week 17

Slayton caught two of three targets for 14 yards and lost a fumble Sunday in a 38-10 win over the Colts. Slayton entered Week 17 having averaged 68.3 receiving yards in seven contests since New York's Week 9 bye, but he couldn't get much going against Indianapolis. His final catch and target came on the first play of the third quarter, when he hauled in a short pass but coughed up the football to the dismay of a clearly frustrated head coach Brian Daboll. The Giants nonetheless went on to win the game to clinch a playoff berth, and with nothing to gain against Philadelphia in Week 18, it remains to be seen how long (if at all) they'll deploy Slayton and their other starters.

  • Giants' Darius Slayton: WRs to Sit

Slayton is my third favorite receiver for the Giants in Week 17, and I would rather start Richie James or Isaiah Hodgins instead. James has the more favorable matchup against the Colts in the slot, and he's hot right now with at least 13 PPR points in four of his past six games. Hodgins is also playing well with at least 15 PPR points in three of his past four outings. Slayton, meanwhile, has scored nine PPR points or less in three of his past five games, and he hasn't scored a touchdown since Week 10. He could see the most of Colts cornerback Stephon Gilmore, and that could be difficult for Slayton to overcome. Consider him a No. 3 Fantasy receiver at best in the majority of leagues.

  • Giants' Darius Slayton: Strong showing on Christmas Eve

Slayton caught four of six targets for 79 yards in Saturday's 27-24 loss to the Vikings. While he was a distant fourth in catches and targets for the Giants, Slayton finished the day just 11 receiving yards behind Richie James for the team lead. Since emerging as a key member of an injury-ravaged receiving corps in Week 5, Slayton has topped 60 yards seven times in 11 games, giving him a solid fantasy floor heading into a Week 17 meeting with the Colts.

  • Giants' Darius Slayton: Sleepers (Start/Sit)

Slayton, Richie James and Isaiah Hodgins are all worth a look this week against the Vikings, who are No. 3 in most Fantasy points allowed to opposing receivers. Eight receivers have scored at least 12 PPR points against Minnesota in the past four games, and this game has the potential to be a high-scoring affair. Slayton has combined for just 13 PPR points in his past two games against Philadelphia and Washington, but he has scored at least 13 PPR points in three of his past six outings overall. James has 27 PPR points in his past two games, and Hodgins has 15 PPR points in two of his past three games as well.

  • Giants' Darius Slayton: Does little with five catches

Slayton had five receptions (seven targets) for 23 yards in Sunday's 20-12 win over the Commanders. Slayton led all New York wideouts in targets and receptions, but his production left much to be desired from a fantasy perspective. This was the veteran wideout's worst yardage output since taking over as the Giants' defacto No. 1 wideout back in Week 7. The 25-year-old had been performing well in the elevated role, so fantasy managers who were relying on the receiver in fantasy prior to Sunday's dud shouldn't abandon ship. There is a good chance Slayton can bounce back against Minnesota's 31st-ranked pass defense Saturday.

  • Giants' Darius Slayton: Sleeper WRs

Slayton was overshadowed by Isaiah Hodgins and Richie James in Week 14 against Philadelphia, but I expect him to rebound this week at Washington. Against the Eagles, Slayton was held to two catches for 42 yards on three targets while James (seven catches for 61 yards and a touchdown on nine targets) and Hodgins (four catches for 38 yards and a touchdown on six targets) each had productive outings. But James (concussion) could be out in Week 15, and Slayton was great against the Commanders in Week 13 with six catches for 90 yards on eight targets. He has at least 13 PPR points in three of his past five games, and I like him as a high-end No. 3 receiver in all leagues for this week.

  • Giants' Darius Slayton: Two grabs in Week 14 loss

Slayton secured two of three targets for 42 yards in the Giants' 48-22 loss to the Eagles on Sunday. Slayton finished second in receiving yards behind Richie James and also recorded a team-long 37-yard grab. The speedster's production represented a downturn, as he'd totaled at least 58 receiving yards in each of the previous six contests. Slayton does have a seven-game streak with multiple receptions going into a Week 15 road rematch with the Commanders next Sunday night.

  • Giants' Darius Slayton: WRs to Sit

Slayton had a great game in Week 13 against the Commanders with 15 PPR points, and he has at least 13 PPR points in three of his past four outings. But this is a tough matchup for him in Week 14 against the Eagles, who are No. 6 in fewest Fantasy points allowed to opposing receivers. Slayton could struggle against Darius Slay in this matchup, and I would only start Slayton in three-receiver leagues in Week 14.

  • Giants' Darius Slayton: Playing in Week 13

Slayton (illness) is listed as active Sunday against the Commanders. The Giants held Slayton out of practice Thursday and Friday due to an illness, placing his status for Week 13 in question. Fellow wide receiver Kenny Golladay also came down with an illness Saturday and was added to the team's injury report, while Richie James also had practice limitations this week due to a knee issue. Among those three, only Golladay isn't available to New York's offense Sunday. As for Slayton, he's been the steadiest of the team's wide receivers over the last seven contests, recording at least 50 receiving yards on six occasions while averaging six targets per game.

  • Giants' Darius Slayton: Expected to play

Slayton (illness), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Commanders, is expected to be healthy enough to play, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Slayton missed the Giants' final two practices of Week 13 due to the illness, but he appears to be making progress as Sunday's 1 p.m. ET kickoff approaches. Managers planning on including Slayton in fantasy lineups this week will still want to make sure that he isn't included among the Giants' list of inactive players, which will be released 90 minutes prior to kickoff.
