  • Mason Schreck: Cut by Texans

Schreck was waived by the Texans on Monday, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports. Schreck spent his first four seasons in Cincinnati before joining the Texans in 2022. He suited up for three games but primarily worked on the team's practice squad. That appears to be his likely destination again this year, but he could opt to look elsewhere for opportunities as well.

  • Texans' Mason Schreck: Inks contract

Schreck signed a reserve/future contract with the Texans on Tuesday. Schreck spent his first four seasons with Chicago before landing in Houston during the offseason. Although he did not earn a spot on the Texans' 53-man roster during training camp, he did sign to their practice squad and ultimately saw action in two regular-season games. The 29-year-old recorded six yards on two receptions during that time. He will look to make an impression with the team during the offseason and potentially earn a bigger role in 2023.

  • Mason Schreck: Reverts to Houston's practice squad

Schreck reverted to the Texans' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Schreck played 10 offensive snaps in Houston's Week 15 overtime loss to the Chiefs. That usage ranked a distant third behind Teagan Quitoriano (51 snaps) and Jordan Akins (30 snaps) among Texans tight ends, and Schreck unsurprisingly wasn't targeted.

Schreck reverted to the Texans' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Schreck was elevated from the practice squad for the second game in a row Sunday, as starting tight end Brevin Jordan (ankle) remained sidelined against Jacksonville. As a result, the 28-year-old played the second-most offensive snaps (24) amongst the Texans' tight ends behind O.J. Howard and ahead of Jordan Akins in Week 5. Schreck will now be eligible for one more game-day activation while on Houston's practice squad this season.

  • Bengals' Mason Schreck: Suffers knee injury against Chiefs

Schreck injured his left knee and will not return to Sunday's game against the Chiefs. The severity of Schreck's injury won't be known until he undergoes further testing, but it doesn't look good considering the second-year pro needed to be carted off the field. This isn't a favorable development for a Bengals tight end group that is already without the services of both Tyler Eifert (ankle) and Tyler Kroft (leg).

  • Bengals' Mason Schreck: Practicing at training camp

Schreck (knee) was practicing at Bengals' training camp Monday. Schreck sustained a knee injury in the preseason last year and was subsequently placed on injured reserve, but he's apparently healthy to start 2018 training camp. The 24-year-old will need to make quite an impression in training camp to earn the No. 3 tight end role and a spot on the 53-man roster.

  • Bengals' Mason Schreck: Injures knee in preseason game

Schreck injured his knee during the Bengals' preseason contest Sunday, Jim Owczarski of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. The severity of the injury is unclear at this point. Knee injuries can fall within a wide range of diagnoses, so we'll have to wait until more information becomes available to establish a timeline for his return. Being that he's buried on the team's depth chart at tight end, Schreck could be on the outside looking in if it takes him a long time to get back.
